Rudy PoseikaNearing completion. Added machine guns in the groove, grooves on cowling, and braces on fuselage in front of cockpit. Saw those details in a 1/48 scale kit of this aircraft.

Rudy PoseikaNot bad for a 50+ year old kit. Could not have done it without decal film. The decals were not yellowed but did look 'dry'... Kit complete and 'flying'.

Rudy PoseikaSince none saw action I was uncertain of weathering. I did some highlighting which turned into some wear and tear. The yellow round decals were delicate and the upper port circle was torn just by a touch of a finger (trying to flatten a wrinkle). The red circle on top hid the blemish but it shows as the depressed area it is.

Rudy PoseikaThis little aircraft has stretched my modelling skills. I think I need some more tools if I am to do more aircraft with rigging. I have not put on antenna wires for similar reasons, I guess. I read and read the instructions and made 40 little eyelets and drilled holes and glued them on the plastic. Then after some assembly and more pre fitting testing I was not able to 'tension' the rigging to my satisfaction on the rear stabilizer. Drooping wire and glue blobs.. I cut off the eyelets and pressed down - sanded and painted best I could to cover the mess.
Plenty of work and touch up to do - clear coat, weathering and decals. I found a 'hack' for rigging on youtube to use pre cut guitar wire in the proper lengths. I may try that on this little guy...

Rudy PoseikaRe: My bogus comment, it seemed there were two NA S Lancs. One was lost in action earlier in the war (probably the box art), and a newer Lanc made in Canada had the same call letters.

Rudy PoseikaModel is basically complete, except for it's official portait (on a mirror in the outdoors). Resin is an interesting working material. Learned a lot in regards to how to glue, sand, paint, protective equipment. The decals went on well. The hardest part was the vacu form canopy. It left large gaps on both sides of the fuselage, even with some forced bend shaping. It took patience and 6 application-layers of white glue to fill the gap..
Generally happy with the result. I need to clean up my work area after this one.

Rudy PoseikaLast bit of work is to minimize - eliminate silvering on the top two decals. Does not really show up that much in lamp light, but in the photos with natural light.

Rudy PoseikaI am about 9 months into coming back making models, made 15 so far, running out of room. I used to make 100s in the 1960s and 1970s (only 3 of those models remain). I am slowing down, but thought I'd try the smaller scale for 4 engine aircraft.

Patrick HagelsteinEnjoy! Despite its age, this is not that bad of a kit. Apart from some flash from the moles wearing out, the panel lines are rather crisp. The only thing needing attention is the rather bare cockpit and a row of rivets on both sides of the front cowling.
