SCM Topic: Junior 0-6-0 Diesel Shunter
Hi all, I would like to propose a name change to the above Topic. As a prototype I can't see any evidence of a 'Junior 0-6-0 Diesel Shunter' existing other than in connection to the fictional 'Thomas the Tank Engine' series, but the kits matched to the Topic currently all represent the following vehicle:
'204HP 0-6-0 Drewry Shunter'
which is what I propose the name be changed to.

I have already corrected some of the Topic info (eg manufacturer: Bachmann, who make models, to Drewry Car Co Ltd), and added the appropriate synonym (British Rail Class 04).

There is also a Wikipedia page for this vehicle, although this page uses its later TOPS name of 'British Rail Class 04' - is there any to link this page to the Topic as well?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_04

Happy to provide any further info if needed.
3 September, 13:23
Jam Fjord
Incidentally, I forgot to mention that the Wikipedia page above states that the Kitmaster/Dapol kit is indeed based on the BR Class 04 aka 204HP 0-6-0 Drewry Shunter.
I still haven't been able to find any information stating that a 'Junior 0-6-0 Diesel Shunter' is a real vehicle.

This could be solved by classing them all under the same main base topic and using the Markings option to specify the variant, similar to how it's already done with a lot of other vehicles. For example:
F-16A Fighting Falcon (Revell 04363, 1:72)
Lockheed Martin F-16 C Solo Türk (Revell 04844, 1:72)
These both depict variants of the same base F-16 plane but are different variants with a lot of different parts as a result.
So for the example the Barbatos Lupus would fall under the Barbatos topic with the markings defining it as the Barbatos Lupus, and then it can be linked as a new parts kit of the original.

10 September, 05:39
Adrian Forest
Sure, that makes sense for those variant Barbatos kits, but would it work for the common base kits? Or those using parts from kits from unrelated lines, like the Build lines?

With Diecast Distributors Australia (DDA) now making a range of Australian cars as plastic kits, it has highlighted a lot of incorrect Topics as there were very few around when the existing Topics were created.

'82 DeLorean DMC-12 (Aoshima 064351, 1:24) is NOT the Time Machine from "Back To The Future", it is just a regular Delorean car kit. It should NOT be multitopic, and I've removed the Time Machine topic from this kit. All 80's Deloreans are not Time Machines.

I still maintain that the non Time Machine version of the Delorean should not be a multi-topic including Time Machine, because it is not a Time Machine, it's just a regular Delorean car model. Regardless if the Time Machine kit starts out with the same base mold and sprues (it probably does) as the regular car kit, they should still be separate topics. If anything, it's the Time Machine kit which should be multi-topic, not the other way around.
21 August, 21:18

I certainly agree with that 🙂 the question (I think) is if they can be in the same timeline, one being one topic and the other multi-topic. right now only the "time machine" one has a timeline. the other does not seem to have one. and both are single-topic. one as Delorean, the other as time machine. while the time machine should have both. anyway, i think now is in the hands of our webmaster 🙂

SCM Topic: L&YR-class 21 0-4-0ST
Topic for this series of kits is incorrect; should be 'L&YR Class 21 0-4-0ST' not 'LMS Kitson 0-4-0ST'
The LMS Kitson is a completely different locomotive with a shorter tank and coal bunker in front of the cab (not features of the kits nor of the L&YR Class 21) plus many other less obvious differences. As far as I'm aware, there are no plastic model kits available for the Kitson, certainly none that are as well known as the Kitmaster/Airfix/Dapol Pug kit.

See the Wikipedia entry for this topic/subject for confirmation of the original kit being based on the L&YR Class 21 locomotive, first full paragraph under Models section:

Trying to flag doubles (and a triple!) in the IPMS USA multiple subject decal sheets and can't find a way of doing it. Has this been addressed somewhere so I can find out how to do it? Specifically, the 1984, 1991, 2011 (1:72), 2013, and 2014 national conventions seem to be doubles and 2010 is a triple (see Boeing AH-64 Apache). It's pretty much a mess with made-up part numbers and a variety of names.

Excellent! Much cleaner. I just see these doubles (with different names) left:
1) IPMS USA 1996 Nationals (IPMS USA 1996B, 1:144) and NASA Boeing 737-100 (Liverie..Airway Graphics 1996, 1:144)
2) SAM SLAYERS (IPMS USA , No) and 2017 IPMS USA Nationals (IPMS USA 2017, No)

1996B19962017

Also, these two should probably be merged as they seem to be one decal which covers both scales, which is listed as "No" scale on other similar entries (is there a better way to handle multiple scale sheets? Could this be it?):
3) 2013 IPMS/USA National Convention (IPMS USA IPMS 2013, 1:48) and 2013 IPMS National Convention (IPMS USA , 1:72)

I believe there is a little bit of a mess with several entries for the kits by "Glowel Miniatures".
e.g. the"Pzkpfw III" is perfectly registered in 1:35 scale as no.35012.
However there are 3x 1:35 scale entries without number only named "Title" when I look up the company and show all kits.
Furthermore when I look for the 1:72 scale set of e.g. the "Pzkpfw III crew" with their no. 72006 I can't find them. The same applies to no.72001 "German Soldiers Refueling A Tank".
However when I did a "create based in" they did show!
Also I was able to then add them to my wishlist.
But when checking my wishlist or the company's list of kits they still don't show at all.
Maybe I am stupid or blind but I beliebe it is worth checking.
Thanks!

The company data for Orion/Haron SCM Brand: Orion/Haron UA says it’s based in the Russian Federation, but the new release boxes say “Made in Ukraine” and their web site has a .ua TLD. Unfortunately that site doesn’t seem to have a snail-mail address for the company, so is it Russian or Ukrainian?

Check any adblockers you might be running? Update any browser your using? If your running Windows? Check your "Programs and Features" Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Runtime files they will most likely need manual updating! They can cause browser problems and also problems with running games sometimes. If your using Apple sorry your on your own! Could also have something to do with Java files they never update or run well all things known to cause problems! If your using a phone update the browser/ O.S. files

When you edit or create an airplane kit, many kits added by others confuse code number and registration number, most of the time being the other way around in the kit data. Would it be possible to add a small explanation where the instructions are on how to fill out each box? code number is letters or numbers that normally go on the fuselage, for example WW2 RAF G-TY, or Spanish Air force 15-24, these characters almost always go on both sides of the national cockade of the fuselage and are normally associated with a unit . registration number is the number given to that specific aircraft, its registration, normally it is a smaller number placed or on the tail, rear fuselage...
2 9 May, 17:35

Or separate both numbers in a different boxes, one for code number and another for registration number.
