Tamiya is falling behind other companies when it comes to detail. The 1/48 Austin K2 was on my wishlist until I found that inside the back is completely empty. Even the 1969 1/76 Airfix kit had an interior.

I agree, one thing that always bugged me after I matured was just how low detail their figures are and I always noticed that their figures seemed to be more of a 1/32 scale because DML/Dragon figures were always a tad smaller so they were never compatible together in a diorama or build. Its sad because some of the new Tamiya kits are nice externally but if they want to compete they are going to have to get new figure artists and they are going to have to start making more vehicles with at least a bare interior.
The prices are also a bit to high given the lack of detail when compared to some of the competition.

I do stay away from them. I got fooled by their F-84 kit and then found out it was a bad re-issue and as I said before. The decal sheet basically disintegrated in water and was useless. I was just commenting on how bad these kits are when I saw this kit advertised on my wall.

Just double checked to see if I had any of the other boxings in my stash. Pity because I was eyeing it - there are so very few ASW Huey kits out there. Had several friends that were 'Bubble Hunters'.

The kit gets a lot of things right. Before this kits release it had callouts in the pre-release of the kit for inaccurate items but those were corrected in the instructions on release. The only 2 things that are inaccurate in the callouts is the small muzzle break but the correct large muzzle break is included. Also the callout for 3 antennas when you should only use the right and center antenna because command Tigers only used 2 radios. Also there is debate on the loaders hatch but both the long hinge version and the cut back version is included. This is a very accurate kit and it includes all parts to make a historically accurate version of his last tiger or the other 3 he commanded in Normandy. I highly recommend it.

Just got this kit off Mercari dirt cheap. Went ahead and gathered all the extras from Super-hobby. I was happy to see that LF models had the paint masks. I have really loved their camouflage masks for other builds. Its really easy to do luftwaffe splinter camo on planes with just masking tape and have before but I went ahead and got the mask set for this plane because it was cheap. I will start on this one at a later date. Getting my 7 foot tall display case built and installed in my home comes first before any of my models suffer from dust damage.
