The chassis work is not yet complete. I still need to add rods for the main landing gear covers and (in the front of the main landing gear compartment) more wiring for hydraulics and electrics.
It was only while working on the landing gear compartments that I discovered how many different pipes and cables there are.

Fortunately, Gripens are demonstrated at public events and flying days. And thanks to this I was able to take a large number of close-up photos, which now serve as a good reference for my build.

Do you lose surface details like paneling with the surfacer? Do you then re-scribe all the lines?

Surfacer is sprayed on the surface of the model in a thin layer and therefore its ability to seal is limited. Surfacer can only repair subtle damage, but more significant damage and detail on the surface of the model, including panel lines, will remain after Surfacer application. The great advantage is that the color uniform and matte finish (after Surfacer application) will reveal all imperfections and flaws. It will show you the areas that deserve repair before you start applying the final paint. You will only need to restore panel lines and small details if there has been a subsequent repair after Surfacer application that has damaged them.

Robert, the idea to build this plane came when I bought the Z-226 Trainer kit in the Dual combo edition (two identical kits in one box). I was wondering what kind of machine to build from the second kit.
While searching for the materials to build the model, I found photos of machines that participated in the Antwerp Air Show in Belgium in 1969. These were four Z-226s - one two-seat Z-226 Trener and three aerobatic Z-226 AS. All four aircraft received the same attractive paint scheme of white, red and black.

I decided to build two of these machines, one two-seater and one aerobatic. They will fit well in a pair.
