Kim HarrisHas anyone else built the A-Model 1;72 Diamond DA42 aircraft model? I am building one for my son who did his instrument rating on them.
The kit is very disappointing with some significant quality and fit issues due to poor injection moulding.
I think it will end up being acceptable but it will take a lot of filling and sanding. I am curious to know if anyone else has experience of it. I can’t find any reviews.

Kim HarrisHello all. I am looking for a Hercules 1/144 model kit. The only one I have found so far is the Academy kit (1/144 C-130J-30 Super Hercules, 1999-present 1263). I have no experience of Academy kits and there seem to be no reviews on here. It's a relatively cheap kit so I am wondering it is really old and basic. Judging by the instructions I have downloaded, it seems fairly basic.
Does anyone have experience of this kit or Academy kits in general? TIA.

Kim Harris AutorI plan to build an A380 in 1/144 too. The trouble is that my 320 is in EasyJet Neo livery which is a pig to paint. I also have to get it right because my son flies them and will spot any discrepancies 🙂
Getting the correct orange is proving to be a trial.

TreehuggerIf you need to use putty, I suggest trying out Vallejo putty, which isn't toxic the way way Tamiya putty is afaik. Make sure to best clean up excess putty, or use masking tape, to avoid putty going hard in places that would require more cleanup.
A sanding sponge can be cut with scissors into smaller bits, to get in between details.

Kim Harris AutorYes, it will need some filling and sanding to the joints. I usually use Humbrol filler thinned with liquid poly and applied between masking tape with a cocktail stick and sanded with sanding sponges. I will try the Vallejo putty next time I am shopping 😀
