Thanks. I left all the chrome with the factory chrome finish as it was very nice. Normally I would strip the chrome and paint it with SMS Hyperchrome, but this kit just needed some tiny touch ups where the parts were cut off the sprue. Full marks to Tamiya for doing a great job on the chrome.

I wish I had put a couple more clear coats on it. The colour seemed to enhance with more coats.

I really like your extras like the removable top and the belt and buckle on the hood. Fabulous model.

Curtis, the Tamiya kit comes with both the removable top and the top down option which has a rubber tonneau cover. I prefer the look of it with the top up. It's a shame they made the windscreen attached to the top. I guess you could try and cut the top off the screen, but I think it would look a bit messy. The hood strap and buckle come with the kit as well.

Album info

After approx. 23 years in the stash, I finally built this one. Paint is SMS Raspberry Red Pearl over a Jet Black base. The carpet is burgundy flocking. Quite a nice kit, but a few minor issues. Not much flash, but many of the small parts had seam lines that needed removing. The body was mostly very good, apart from around the headlights which needed much filling and sanding. It would be much better if the part that surrounds the grill was part of the main body piece. Due to how the bonnet hinges are held in by the grill surround, the instructions have you attaching this part after attaching the bonnet halves, which would leave a join to fill which is not there on the real thing. This would also mean painting it after the bonnets were attached. I put the grill surround on first, filled the gap and painted the body and bonnet parts, then was able to bend the body enough to get the hinges into their holes. The hinge pins are so tiny that one of them broke early on in the build, so I cut them off and glued piece of brass rod onto each bonnet half. This required the holes where they locate in the body to be enlarged. The front wheels initially seem to be movable, but once you attach the steering the wheels can no longer move. The tiny metal Morgan badges would not stick with the adhesive that was on them. They were quite difficult to glue using CA. The windscreen wipers were difficult to fit. They have very small locating lugs and with the hood and screen being removable it was tricky to get them sitting nicely.
