Fuselage closed, a perfect fit.

Album image #12
Wings attached, ended up with a small gap which I filled with a scrap piece of evergreen

Album image #13
Canopy screen is in place, as are the resin parts that make up the area of the gunsight. These trow the fit of the windshield, hence the tape holding it in place

Album image #14
Eduard has you fit part B14 to the tail, this did not fit the afterburner ring, it actually broke the part. 🙁
The instructions in the other kit state part A16 should be used, this does not fit the ring either, so I'm going to use the FOD cover on this one.... A real shame as the resin parts looked very good.

Album image #15

Made a start on the bunny fighter, managed to break the resin cockpit tub while removing it from the casting block.... Off to a great start I would say 🙂
The piece is mended again, lucky it was a clean break.

Watching with interest, Jan. Good luck! 😄

I'm loving these, Eduard did a great engineering job on the kit.

A little more done, yet I'm encountering some problems.
Not sure which part is correct, as I do not see any difference between the two?

Identical twins?
Should be the same kit, yet check the rivits on the wings? The top airframe has correct details, where the lower has no oval rivits. Is there a mixup of sprues?
4 December 2021, 14:47
Jan Peters
Ok, found out there are differences in production wings, produced after 1975 for export. Im a noob when it comes to these ' modern' aircraft 😁
4 December 2021, 16:27
Jan Peters
Both ready for paint 🙂

Installed the seats, and closed up the canopy. Final masking before paint can finally be applied nearly done.
18 December 2021, 14:26
Thomas Kolb
Those cockpits sure look nice!
18 December 2021, 14:59
Jan Peters
They really do Thomas, I love the detail Eduard crams into these kits, it takes like forever to complete these (or so it feels for me) but in the end it is all worth the effort.
18 December 2021, 15:28
Jan Peters
Got some paint done, just basecoats. The Czech machine is painted with Tamiya flat aluminium, but this somehow turned out much more sparkly then normal, must be the xmas season...😁
19 December 2021, 15:25
Pierre Pierre
super nice whish I had e enough time to participate. cockpit look great, for the paint may be gently polish it and add another thin layer spraying close to the model. following.
19 December 2021, 15:44
Jan Peters
Thanks Pierre,
This is the base layer of aluminium, I will spray more layers of aluminium tones later. Polishing it slightly might be a good idea, will make a smoother finish 👍🏻
And there is still plenty of time to join in the fun
19 December 2021, 16:59
Jan Peters
Finally managed to get some more paint done 🙂
29 December 2021, 13:39
Lex Jassies
Nice paint set-up. And the filter still virginal clean 🙂 You like the set-up?
The Mig's beginning to look good 👍
30 December 2021, 14:18
Jan Peters
Thanks Lex.
The setup works just great. After 30+ years of sniffing fumes I finally got one. My hobbyroom is shared with my wife's work space, working from home because of covid. No fumes in the room now, even without the extractor hose laying on the floor, not out the window.
30 December 2021, 14:38
Jan Peters
The first decals are on, the rest will follow next year 🙂
Happy new year everybody and stay safe, it is hard to build models without your fingers!

2 January 2022, 16:48
Robin (WhiteGlint)
Very nice progress on both MiG. 👍

Yep, you will place a lot of stencils with these two. 😄
I was a tad lazy with mine... 🤔 In the end I regret it a bit, but the camo scheme was too dark on mine anyways.
2 January 2022, 17:08
Jan Peters
Thanks WhiteGlint 🙂
I was thinking about skipping the stencils, but it will make for a more realistic model in the end. I will probably get the models done by the end of this year 😁
