MiG-15 UTI (WIP)

Ready for first paint 

Applied the numerous PE parts after a base paint of Gunze C308 

Almost ready to close 

Cockpit (minus front instrument panel) is ready, varnished with the excellent Vallejo Matt Varnish 62.062 

Time for glue and very strong clamps 

Some gaps here, possibly because I'm using a non UTI MiG-15 exhaust tube that is a bit too large 

For some reason, the left side of the fuselage wouldn't close around the cockpit, despite some careful sanding - this was the minimum I could manage and a seriously skewed fuselage 

Milliput (white) applied 

After Milluput, sanding, Mr Surfacer 500, more sanding, AK Microfiller Primer, more sanding and I'll still have to do some work

Wings and tail glued, maybe some acrylic putty will be required here and there 

Putty time 

H45 applied - too saturated blue, it seems to me 

De-saturated by mixing the H45 with H314 

The recommended Gunze color in the instructions seemed odd, so I chose MRP-37 Dark Yellow instead 

Paint made clear and sprayed over salt - I did not like the result and toned it donw after removing the salt 

Paint so far 

Green patches applied with MRP-35 Olive Green 

Tamiya XF-4 + XF-2 heavily diluted with Mr Levelling Thinner misted over the entire plane 

Painting the intake silver  

Plane varnished with X-22, decals applied, and varnished again 

Plane varnished with X-22, decals applied, and varnished again 

Washes applied (A.MIG 1610 for below and A.MIG 1608 for the upper parts) and varnished over with Hataka Satin Lacquer Clear XP08; masks removed from canopy
