F-16A MLU - J-881
Nicely detailed cockpit. Too bad I suck at pits >.<
Beautifully detailed MLG Wheelbay. Maybe on the next build, I'll add a little more details with copper
Nicely detailed PW Jet exhaust, yet....
... it is a little more complicated to assemble than necessary..
Also, some of the pedals show some sinkmarks, most likely due to the sheer thickness of the pedals. On my next build, I will replace these for the ones from reskit.
Burner Can painted and weathered
PW Exhaust weathered using washes from AK & Pigments from ABT501
Metalizer work (AK Xtreme Metals II)
Painting of the pipe complete, time for detailing
Peeking into the pit. I'll be honest, I suck at pits, but the fit of the stock parts was phenomenal!
Used white panel wash from AK Inter to highlight the panels, then added the buttons with paint on a toothpick
Coming along
Arrestor hook carved for correct form
Arrestor hook carved for correct form
Seamline removal and polishing of the canopies
Filling out some gaps using ca glue
Difference on camera is almost uncanny
Adding strengthening plates from Daco Products
Canopy tinted (Tamiya smoke + clear yellow 10:3+10 drops Mr.LT)
Top view
Tried to place the plates as they were seen on the plane in 2008
Almost ready for priming
Aircraft prepped for priming, time to take category of accessories
Landing gear fitted
If you pick this kit, get some replacement wheels, sadly, none of the options in kit fit for a netherland/ Belgium block 20
Had some leftover PE from an earlier build
Accessories built and prepped for priming
After black-basing, started with belly in FS36375 from Hataka (orange line)
Using the rest of the fs36375 for topside marbeling/ highlighting
Adverse lighting being helpful?
Noice
Noice
Bottom side painted FS36375 using Hataka Orange Line
Top side FS36118 from Hataka Orange Line
FS36270 Hataka Red Line..... Never again... Clogged up my airbrush badly multiple times
Masking in preparation for Insignia White from AK RC
Almost their....
Broke out the paintbrushes for some detailing pre-glossing
Loving the kit details
Glossed up with Tamiya X22
And so begins the decaling
Noticed that I placed the reinforment plates incorrect...
Luckily easily corrected, thank to the adhesive on the vinyl..
Stiffener plates and tailart touched up
Top side decals sealed, on to the lower half
Panel wash complete
Final assembly hopefully tommorow

Looks amazing so far, great job on the pre- and post-shading and the paintjob in general! 👍
