WIP F-35A Agressor 'Ghost' Scheme

Album image #1
Photo album does some weird things, every time I upload a picture, the pictures are assigned to the wrong album, also the order of pictures is not always correct, don’t know why it happens..

Album image #2
Couldn’t wait and started the F-35A, after viewing some videos, I discovered that the cockpit cowling in the kit is of the prototype. There is a tiny sort of camera and at the right of it a tiny ‘HUD’ (will attach later.)

Album image #3
Here you can ‘see’ the details of a production USAF F-35A.

Album image #4
I’ve used the kit decals for the ‘smart tv’ and added radar decal from airscale instruments. Although I maybe go all over it with a home made decal, not sure now. It is a bit too GIF like, instead of an MFD. (Sorry for the nasty quality of the picture.)

Album image #5
EOTS under the nose has to be installed before glueing the top and bottom halves together.

First encounters…
When compared to the real weapon bays, Meng thought it wouldn’t be very visible when armed to the teeth. I will only use one AIM-120C per weaponbay, so when in flight (I will make an in flight model) it will be more visible.

Album image #8
Detailed the weaponbays with the help of a picture of a Royal Aussie F-35 with the bays open. (Man, this photo quality is really bad, must take pictures with another phone or camera)

Album image #9
Still need some attention, almost ready to put it all together with the fuselage halves.

Album image #10
With some first painting, need touch ups and semigloss/Matt clear here and there.

Album image #12
Need some help here with the cover of the EOTS, keep it transparant or with a very light coat with smoke paint or with some chromatic foil?

Album image #13
A different refraction of light on this picture.

Album image #14
4 of the 7 parts of the cover with self adhesive foil, I think that cover them all up is a bit too much?

Strange choice of Meng breaking up the vertical stabilizers horizontally. My model is pulling the stick and banking right, I think about 40 degrees up and 30 degrees right. The only options in the kit for the horizontal stabilizers are 0 or -10 degrees, so had to alter this to about +10 degrees because of pulling the stick hard.

Album image #21
Just a quick test fitting with the aid of some tack (bad light conditions, sorry)

Album image #22
Little progress, (been also busy with Blue Angels F-18A) tinting the canopy and painted the explosive cord, still some parts of this cord to add (4 rectangles parts), first time tinting a canopy, I did not managed it to get is as transparent as it was, but this time good enough, had to wash off the paint two times with that ‘glassex’ (NL) /windex stuff (works great) to get it the third time a bit presentable. Too bad that Meng didn’t provide one like Tamiya (and Hasegawa) does with their F-16’s.

Thanks Maciej, it took some hours to figure it all out, most busy weapon bay I've ever seen. I left the attachment of the bombs as it is, but when I saw the photo of the weapon bays open I had to do something ..

Awesome work on bays 👍... I started on mine, then saw that Blackdog is printing them, ordered.

Ah, another fellow crazy detailler trying to make the kit as realistic as possible 😉 😄
The weapon bays look awesome, real close to the original. And I like the interesting camo choice as well, will definitely watch with interest! 👍👍

Thanks for the nice comments, well, I think we are in the end all a bit nuts, with all that 'blood, sweat and tears' to get the best out of some plastic pieces in a carton box, to make a model when at the end the wife says: ok that's a sweet little airplane you've made, but do you really need to throw that much time, aftermarket stuff, effort and money to it? 😉
Well, I enjoy every minute, I'm mad at aircraft and I feel better about my investments than wasting time on Netflix series and after the last chapter got nothing in the hands than an empty glass of beer..😁

Need some help here with the 'glass' cover of the EOTS under the nose, should I use some chromatic/iridescent foil or just a very light touch of smoke? See for the idea my last pictures.

Seeing what you have been able to do with the foil, I would go for it! It looks great!

Would definitely go with the foil, the result looks good already and will be definitely worth it in the end. 👍

Seeing the effect of that foil compared to the reference pictures, I would stick (🙂) to the foil. Just the randomness of the different reflections are really lifelike.

That foil looks good . And the weapons bay, simply amazing
