I found this one on the internet, and adjusted it a little bit to wat I could see on the pictures I had found. Not each aircraft is the same, but Twobobs and Caracal decals for some of the tailcodes of the F-16C CAS are not right according to references.

Album image #6
Well, the aires resin exhaust ring was shrunk or something, I took 1.5 mm of the Hase ring (when comparing to Hase lenght, the Aires total lenght is about this smaller, that way i had a smaller step when fitting it to the airframe, anyway a lot of putty and sanding was needed, still busy with it. Stupidly enough I’ve already glued the gears in the bays, next time I leave it till the end of the build. Mr Surfacer 1200 used for priming.

Album image #7
First part of painted exhaust, I’ve used Xtreme metal from AK, great paint! Airbrush is doing well also, not as difficult as I thought it would be. Have to do the petals a bit and also the ring is a bit too bright.

Album image #8
Started painting with mr Color, nr C302 and C303, with some 10-15 % white and Mr Leveling thinner. Nice paint to work with, although it has a strong smell..

Album image #9
FS36081 added, after this I realized that the tip of the nose should be mounted before painting the nose 🙁 , with self made pitottube from 2 sizes of hypodermic needles.

Album image #10
AGM-65, inert, without the steering fins, couldn’t find decal stripes, so hope that this will work. I made thinner fins from plastic card, because out of the old hasegawa weapon set, they are very thick.

Album image #11
90 percent ready, have to do Some burned colour onto the parts between blue-ish ring and petals. (Does someone know how to rotate pictures on this site?)

Album image #12
Tried to detail a bit the old style TER also from the Hasegawa weaponset with copper wire and some adjustment on the topside of the front, in real there is a ‘den’, but was flat in this weaponset.
Also tried some sanding at the fins of the Mk82 high drag inert bombs (will use two of them)

Album image #13
Started with the TwoBob decals, there are quite some stencils missing, and some of them are drawn at the wrong place, I’ve added Hasegawa stencils from spare decals.
Almost ready for the next Gloss coat for weathering.

Album image #14
The TwoBob decals work really nice with Microscale Set and Sol ( Areas that are matt is due to a little adjusting the dark green Paint)

Album image #15
I decided to add self cut front fins to the AIM-9J sidewinder, base layer done, going to have white head (with cover) and small white frontside of the rear fins, according to references.

Album image #16

Album image #17
Here you can see the sidewinder as used back in those days.

Album image #18
The pave penny pod on a small IDF-like version of the pylon, pretty high mounted on the right side of the intake.

Album image #19
A bit of a busy picture, but I saw in the previous picture a shiny ring around the front part of the GPU-5 cannon pod, so tried to replicate it (in the back of the picture, sorry for the bad quality)

Album image #20
Haven't done a lot the last couple of weeks due to other time consuming things (like work/familiy/etc).
I thought it would be nice to get my F-16 a place where it could be parked / maintained between flights. First time for me trying to replicate a piece of concrete airfield. Nosewheel will be placed on yellow line at about one third from the left.

Album image #21
Some other items, Eduard ladder, Verlinden seat, intake cover (for inside the intake, I've tried to make a cover, but that's not so easy due to complex shape of intake.)

Album image #22
Something like this, next time further with the Viper it self, like matt varnish, canopy, HUD frame, exhaust and some RBF tags.

Album image #23

Album image #24
A quick photo with an awful background, a bit updated with RBF tags, seat in place, exhaust mounted etc.

Album image #25
Took some pictures outside.( I needed for now a piece of tape for keeping the canopy up)
I think it’s ready now. My first kit after quite a few years, learned a lot making this one, how things should and should not be done.

Is that masking tape as rings around the landing gear "rods" in photo 4?
30 May 2020, 14:53
Mark D
Yes, some Tamiya masking tape, it should be fine under a layer of paint.

Thanks, i'm still struggling with my skills, things come out as I wanted, some things I'm not proud of, but learning from it...

Nice project, I like this scheme on the F-16, it´s something completely different to all the common grey versions.

Excellent result! Now I need a Lizard Viper too 🙂

? thank you Erik, I've released the green virus I guess, good luck with your lizard, if you need info or pictures or something, I've downloaded a lot, no problem for exchange. I think I would go with the Caracal decals instead of Twobobs, the quality of Twobobs is really good, nice thin decals, but it's not 100% complete.

Laurent VILLANUEVA "HELLER-forever"
what shade used for the camouflage in humbrol?
20 April 2021, 18:34
Mark D
Thanks a lot guys.
Camouflage is Mr Color C305,302,303 with highlights of same color with some extra white in it. I found out that because of the heat of the sun, the fs36081/C301 was a little bit too dark on this scale, so after all I used FS36118 for this, maybe not totally correct but it turned out to be a little bit more faded as the way I wanted it to be. I saw a coloured drawing of the A-10A which looked good with the fs36118.

@ Laurent: I don't know how to post a picture here in the textbox, but I've added another photo of an A-10A concerning the colors, picture nr 39.

Very nice Mark! Awesome 👍!

In the A-10 picture the charcoal grey looks extremely faded. If I compare your build to the cover picture (the one in flight), it looks spot on to me. 👍

A unique camo scheme beautifully done
