Cool I'll take a seat! Looking forward to see your progress. Looks very nice so far. In my opinion this kit is one of the best. It was really an enjoyable built. Do you already have chosen the marking?

Well, it's a group build.I'm being pushed into accepting a plan bare metal, but I think I'll try to negotiate the spotted one on the box art! :-D

Great job so far Ricardo! The Eduard MiG is one of the best kits I ever built. Have fun! 🙂

Very nice work Ricardo, this is probably my favorite MiG-21 scheme. Sucks about the paint lifting with the masking removal, I always cringe when I think about masking over metallics. I have had that happen to me before too.

Have one of the other box sets of this. Looking forward to doing it in Cuban colours.

Yup, really nice kit. Not sure if my AK Xtreme bottle is 100% ok though, because this paint is usually very resistant. Some corrections are now on the path of completion.

i just had the same thing happen to an eduard kit i was working on. i wonder if they're using a more substantial mold release fluid than other companies.
i've never had this issue with any other companies. nor did i do anything different in my painting process.

washing them with water and soap, prior to start, may avoid problems with any substance present in the plastic

Ricardo, I think you will overcome this little issue with the NMF - the over all appearance is very nice 👍

The varnish is Tamiya X-22 thinned with Lacquer Thinner. You should NOT use enamel varnish when you use enamel based washes, like I did, it would mix up. Yes, I wait for the pin wash to dry and then simply clean it with cotton swabs. If the wash accumulates in a difficult place or is difficult to remove, I use some White Spirit or Odourless Enamel Thinner in a brush or cotton swab to remove it.

I really love this MIG and the camouflage 👍 The lighter edges on the dark green spots. Are they a result of the spraying?
21 November 2022, 09:50
Marius
It looks spot on, great quality! (although as a side note, I am not sure about the cockpit interior color).
That Aluminium from Xtreme Metal looks fantastic, I also tried it recently and cand confirm, but indeed the mechanical resitance is very low, it goes off immediately.
More pictures soon?
