Is there a breakdown on what is specific to using the gundam site versus this site? Stash sounds like it might be separate.

If everything gundam is still housed/visible here, then I will probably stay here. Even though I have a strong interest in gundam, I still like non-gundam subjects just as much.

Having a specific Grade option for filtering might be nice as mentioned, although it's usually in the description somewhere and/or tends to overlap the scale to a degree.

I suspect gundam-only builders are going to love it. Now you just need to round up some gundam-related advertising. 🙂

If you think it's ready for new users, I can mention it in my gundam groups....

I was a bit alarmed when I tried to search my stash and couldn't find any of my Macross kits. I'm not sure I like that I can no longer see my entire stash at once in Scalemates. I would have recommended cloning the records for Gundam-related kits to the new site instead of moving them in-toto. Now if I'm searching for a kit I need to check both sites instead of one, which is not ideal, as it takes twice as long.

EDIT: I also noticed that there is no longer a number indicating if you have more than one of an item in the list view. I would strongly suggest adding this feature back in some form, as it was a very handy feature. Knowing if I have multiples of a product at a glance is important, and having to click each individually to determine what I have is a major degradation in functionality.

I did log in to Gundammates. I think the problem was that the site indicator bar was at the bottom right corner, covering the text showing if I had multiples. It's fixed now that the site indicator strip is on the top right corner.

I didn't realize that when gundammates went live my gundams wouldn't show up on my scalemates stash and nearly had a heart attack.. D:

Interesting idea, but right now it needs more new features.
Like easy sorting by anime series, limited\special coating\regular release\etc or by grade (and we won't talk about difference between RE/100, MG, MGEX and Full Mechanics right now 😝 ), I really like the system with sections dalong.net uses (but it's not simple for newcomers).
Also Gunpla kits pretty often had vertical boxarts, like most of MG boxes, should we modify previews for them?
The Scalemates' best feature - kit's history - how well can it handle multitopics right now? Can we add 2 or more origin kits to the history? How we can add info like "updated waist joints" to be easy accesable?
And what about other mecha? Mechamusume? Will those also go away from the main site? And what about about other plamo? Bandai's Star Wars kits, what about them? What exactly is plamo? Should we add chinese bootlegs? Chinese original stuff?

Fyi, I finally also secured mechamates.com which is a more open name for all mech/mecha related models and not "just" gundam.

So for now if it is Mecha = gundammates.com I will decide if I keep just mechamates for all Mecha (including Gundam) or also keep gundammates.com for gundam only.

Star Wars would in my view not fit on either of them (my view)

I've notice a raising number of Mecha kits from Chinese manufacturers. They are not linked to any anime or movie. And often the product don't even have a proper English name. Sorting them can be a headache. Unless one is familiar with Mandarin, identifying a kit one has bought on holiday, say, would be difficult.
With Google and photo search available now, would it help if the product name in the "native language" are included? And more photos of the product are posted?

Also, "DO NOT UPLOAD boxart pictures which (partially) contain a real photo of the original". means pics of the subject, the miniature, or an actual photo?

That means the real subject. It's because of copyright reasons, I believe.

Thanks. I update a lot of 3D prints, and many don't have box art, and photos of the printed parts aren't helpful. So it's been nagging me if it's okay to post photos of the miniature. Heck loads of work to find and replace the lot. LOL

Umm I know 30MS (30 Minutes Sisters) kits are not strictly mecha (well they are models for humanoid girls, they are not strictly human lore-wise though) but I think they should be in Gundammates with it's sibling 30MM kits.

I must admit, I don't understand this split. Did people on scalemates complain about the mecha? I guess it's nice to have gundammates for people who are only interested in Gundam.

That's nice and all, but why are they gone from my stash on scalemates now? Can I get those back, because I *do not* want to browse two separate pages to keep up with my stash and what others are building.

Totally agree Dash. Completely unneeded to remove them all from Scalemates. I was trying to find my Macross kits in my wishlist today and found them all gone, why is macross lumped in with Gundam?

No need for these things to be split across multiple sites.

I wasn't sure where to go to find more information, since Sci-Fi is my interest i have a lot of kits from various series or games that don't fall under Macross or Gundam or even Mecha. Where am i supposed to go now? I liked Scalemates since it didn't discriminate which topic you are interested in, and i could discover non Sci-fi kits that interest me too.

Perhaps you could just keep everything Here and make Genre toggles for what people are interested in, so you can filter stuff to your preferences. Maybe make it a part of the signup process too, so people can have a more tailored experience from the start.

Thats great to hear! I was worried that the site is going to keep splitting off into sister sites and it would become confusing to manage, especially for cross genre models.
