I have a question regarding boxarts. There is following warning for boxart picture upload:
----
IMPORTANT: DO NOT UPLOAD boxart pictures which (partially) contain a real photo of the original!!!
Even when they come from the brand website
----

I was wondering why is it that way. I can understand copyright issues with some newer photos. So do the manufacturers apparently, because they do not use unlicensed photos. Now what if the "boxart" with real photo comes directly from manufacturers' catalogue, with some corporate graphic and subject description added? The real photo is of some WWII subject or older and is in public domain. Such uploaded boxarts are still being removed.

Why is it that way?

This boxart should be deleted for sure, as all the similar boxarts of ICM kits were also deleted. Normal user can't do the deletion though.

Bristol Beaufort Mk.IA (Airfix A04021A, 1:72)

Removed, so far so good. 👍

Now what to do with boxarts like this one?

F-4EJ Kai Phantom II `302SQ ..om)´ (Hasegawa 07476, 1:48)

07476

There are hundreds of boxarts like this on Hasegawa's kits, but also other manufacturers' like Fujimi or Revell to name a few. I expect to be many hundreds or even a few thousands of boxarts like these there. Should these be removed? I don't think so. Are these images consistent with the warning pasted above? Definitely not.

Yes this is 100% valid

The difference with the Airfix one above. This is the official boxart, not a temporary placeholder used for an announcement and from al large company. (typically seen in the beginning of the year when 202x announcements are published)

What we want to avoid at all costs is the Airfix one as above and these collages of a real picture as can be seen here
mymodels.be/decals/4..013-exclusivite.html

eg. not so long ago we got a 400 EUR invoice because we a 1:43 decal company thought it was a good idea to use a Associated Press picture from a newspaper in such a collage.

Now I believe this boxart should be removed:
UH-60A Black Hawk (ICM TBA35-2024A, 1:35)

TBA35-2024A

And also this one. Not that I expect some copyright issues to be there, just for the sake of consistency:
Army Kitchen Truck (ICM 35587, 1:35)
