Fuselage now together with engine attached to nose. Wings now together and undercarriage wells painted Ammo Aotake blue. 🙂

I'd paint the lines on the canopy. Definitely start from the front for the long decals. Adjust the length if needed with paint. As SergeJ said, watch the symmetry! It's always more noticeable than we might at first think!

Trying something here. I needed to embed the fuselage in the snow, so I dug out the previously set base and soaked it in water until it became a sludge. Then I placed the fuselage bits. We'll see what happens when it's fully dry, but I think this should work…. Famous last words…

So the snow didn't work. It dried unevenly and turned patchy. Also, I needed to make the edges of the break a little less... plastic. So I've attached a bit aluminium foil which will need to be painted a bit. I'm also thinking it needs some wires... and other junk.

This project seemed like a good way to assign a couple of older kits into the rotation. I try to maintain an internal consistency to my projects when they feature more than one air craft. Pairing a modern, highly detailed kit against an older less detailed one doesn't seem like a fair fight, right? 😉

I was debating going with a Revell Tempest instead of the Mustang, either would work, but decided to go with the last battle in the chapter instead of the first.

That's how I felt even just doing the basic assembly. Given that the Mustang is going down in flames, I didn't feel the need to add a DC motor for the propellor and I was glad. These kits are very simple, but as I said, I like a fair fight so at least they're the same level of poor. I'll save my Platz Mustangs and my Trumpeter Me262s for a future project.
