I think I'm done with my F-15E Strike Eagle model. Considering it's only my second model, I'm relatively happy with it, but being the perfectionist that I am, all I see are the flaws. I did an especially lousy job with the decals with lots of silvering. Need to make sure I do a better job with the next one.

I'm considering whether I should I consider this one finished or if I should weather it further.

Very nice, especially as for a 2nd model ever

Like Lukasz said, very nice for a second model.
If you paint a gloss layer before decalling, the chances of silvering a very slim. Apply a matte layer afterwards.
Good luck with number three 👍

Thanks for the pointer. I did apply a gloss coat but I'm guessing I just didn't do it well enough. I think it also would have helped to clean the model of dust, etc prior to applying the gloss coat.

The idea behind the gloss under the decals is to get a smooth surface, so the micro-bubbles of air don't cause the silvering (correct me if I messed sth up 😉 ). But sometimes you get kind of "orange peel" effect even with the glosscoat - I'd recommend delicate polishing then.

the construction is looking good, ok the decals... not so what is a bummer. I tend to apply some gloss in my colorpaint, so I can avoid adding several layers, then I wet the surface with water, so that the decal can slide. When the decal is in its place I suck the water from under it with a flat brush, and then rubb the decal lightly with that brush from the center to the outside, to push out some airbubbles, and to "help" the decal in the panelline. after that I apply some decal softener, and again some gentle pushing (vertical) in the panellines where necessary. If an airbubble should show, open it with the tip of a needle so that the air can exit, and push it gently in it's place.

other ting is that some parts of the canopy need some paint too
