Starting an old Monogram for me is the classic case of snowballing. Going to have to fill seams...lose raised detail...might as well rescribe...and so on. I can't NOT do this when I start one. I have the entire Century series from them and they no doubt will undergo the same progression, ha!

I can't build one without rescribing it either. But strangely, that is half the fun of building them. I also have the whole century series also, I think like 3 times over. They were so detailed for their time frame. It is to bad they are getting so expensive on E-bay now.

You got that right. I hit the last of the consignment sales on my local hobby shop before they started basing their used prices on ebay sales. Ouch, I know that makes me old, but I can't pay $50 for a kit that was $6.99 back in the day!

I know what you mean. I saw one the other night, the guy wanted 120.00 for an F-101B. I won't pay that for a new modern kit, let alone a 1970's kit. I guess I am really old. My grand daughter told me the other day I was older than dirt. I would love to try the new Meng F-4's and the Hobby Boss F-18E, F and G, but I can't bring myself to pay what they want for them, let alone convince my better half to let me spend that much. The last time she let me spend that much was when Itareli released their 1/32 F-104G, which she let me get.

I am hoping someday the Tamiya 1/48 F-4 and F-14 will be lower, but I don't see that happening.

This one is in the decal stage, tedious work. Pictures soon. Gloss black is a pain to work with. Lol.

What gloss black did you end up with? It looks really good. I've been having good luck with X-1 at about 40/60 paint to levelling thinner.

It is Tamiya X-1, with 2 coats of future over it.
