Three Little Birds

Album image #1
First up the monogram cockpit, with the bottom half of the seats moulded in but some nice detail on the consoles as well as decals AND belts !!

Album image #2
Next the ubiquitous hasegawa cockpit. Note the absence of any moulded detail on the consoles or panels, and no detailing on the walls.

Album image #3
Last finemolds. Very modular with separate console panels like the new Tamiya 1/48 f4b and some nicely moulded aircrew

Album image #4
All three together , no decals yet, I won’t be adding decals to the monogram pit, hasegawa is looking very much like the poor relation

Album image #6
Hmm, that front seat looks wonky, I’ll need to correct that..the nice thing is the consoles are all marked by raised detail so you can flood coat it. Didn’t even need drybrushing

Album image #7
All three finished from the left , hasegawa, finemolds, monogram

Album image #8
Love the way the fine molds kit cockpit locates positively using chunky pins

Album image #9
Can anyone explain why finemolds decided to make this out of 2 parts? There’s no detail and I can’t see a single reason for it

Album image #10
Tiny bit of flash on finemolds otherwise flawless (so far) moulding

Album image #11
Time to crack on with the monogram kit. Found a problem with the wing join. Now it may just be me but the wings wouldn’t close

Album image #12
Found this little beggar didn’t line up with its mating hole, so cut it off

Album image #13
That’s better ! , the wing to fuselage join was as good as I’ve seen in ANY kit

Monogram /Revell Getting there

Album image #16
After a mess up on my part (completely trashed the rear port h stab trying to fix the paint

Album image #17
I ended up scratch building a new one …!

Very cool, these kinds of builds are always fascinating. Looking forward to seeing how they compare

I'm also curious about my plans to reinstate the raised panel lines once I've destroyed them. No rescribing going on here.

Welcome Nicolas. I'll be taking this slowly , probably building one at a time with a big reveal at the end. But who knows how it will end up ,after all, it's meant to be fun !! 🤣

So this has stalled a little bit , due to 1.my errors (wrecked the port stabilator and had to scratch a new one , 2 lost bits and pieces (lost 1 of the the flaps, now thankfully turned up) 3.other projects.;4. A change of plan.

I'm taking photos as I go but will post them when all 3 birds are finished to give a better "side by side" comparison

Thankyou to all of still following this 👍🏻
