I started this project yesterday. The only thing I have done so far is to paint all parts with primer.

Today I tried to give the engine an older look...

Sometimes I think if I see all the other people's things they make, why should I still try? On picture seven you see one glasses, one eyeglasses bracket and one loupe. Since my eyes trouble it is the only way to see something. I know I am never as good as people here are. But I am sometimes really proud (at least for myself) of what I still can do if you have the equipment that helps you.

By the way I made the dashboard today and do some painting.

ultimately what we do here is a hobby and we only do it for ourselves and not for anyone else. So if it makes you happy and you're proud of what you do, that's great.

So keep going Ard 👍👍👍

My eyesight has diminished with age and I would love to have the space to display larger models, but we all fight against our limitations. Sometimes we even win and if we don't give up we at least win for the day. I use magnification to aid my building and detailing on a daily basis. Soldier on. We all have our issues and our strengths.

Well. I try to do my best. But I know I never can use a airbrush cause I need to look close and can not see that distance you need when you use an airbrush

If you are doing detail work, you can work close. I bought a Point Zero airbrush and that has 3 different needles and a MAC valve to allow you to back down the pressure to work close. The airbrush sells for less than $30 USD.

Today I got a 3D print driver. Would be great to see him aside the car.
Now I only look for a helmet. I want that on the roof

There is a site called SHAPEWAYS that carries a large selection of 3D printed parts and other things.

Just for the fun. I already paint the driver. The set have two options to build. I use some decal from the option I don't build.

That works.

The Devilish Hip. Nice!
As a side note, the newer Vallejo paints apply well with a brush and have good coloration, so try them out if you get a chance. 😉

@MS K thanks for the advice. But since I restarted after 25 years with building again, the paint, the tools and that thing cost a fortune my wife said.
But one dress is more expensive and less fun for me.. lol 😆 🤣 😂

It's only fun slipping her out of the dress.

After some time and with some trouble ( it doesn't fit completely) the job is done.
Building is mostly fun and parts of this was great but sometimes grrrrrr.
By the way the road is made with AK asphalt. First time I use ot but it was good.

Congratulations no your finished build
I have heard heller kits can be a challenge
The road looks fantastic not just the model but also a diorama
In record time I must say

The Alpine is a beautiful display. Congratulations on a job well done.

@JV it was. For me the last Heller for a long time. I think. But every kit have it owns problems. In the end we have something to do so that must be enough..

When I was young a diorama we never did. After my train that I have had I like the idea of a diorama so I tried something to make it look great,

I am building now a plane and a boat lol. So if they are on the road it is an emergency. 😂😂

Lawrence Landis
You are very right. Every kit does have its own problems. We are modelers and we adapt and overcome the problems. If it was easy, everybody could do it. They didn't. You took the circumstances of the kit and produced a great model and display. I have some Heller kits to build and you are inspiring me to tackle them. One is the Bugatti T50.I don't like how the body builds up, so I have to find a solution that works for me. When things look like the manufacturer didn't know how it should be done, we have to find a new way to do it. They manufactured it to be easy for them to produce, not necessarily for ease of assembly. Congratulations on meeting and beating the challenge.

@Lawrence Sometimes you need to put it away for some time and think and think and think how to handle it. And then you suddenly see it and it goes all the way.
I always think every kit is nice to build. I don't like to build anything compare to war or army. So i don't do that. But a plane can be nice, a boat too. For me it must be kind of fun to build (please never build things twice...) and then I see the problems and try to work around it.

I believe it is necessary for us to put a kit for a while but not put it away. I will sit a car body, for instance, in a paint stand and let it sit on the dining room table, so that I look at it everytime I walk past it. (My wife doesn't like this method.) She would rather that I put my toys away. It might take me a few weeks, but after a while I get an idea and then I try to see what I need to do to make it work.
Think about the movie, The Karate Kid, when they were trimming the bonsai plants. The kid didn't know how to do it. The old man told him to picture the bonsai in his mind. He asked the kid, "Can you see the picture? "The kid said, " Yes". The old man said, "Make it like the picture."

🤣🤣🤣yes you may want to build another diorama for them
But you could land a plane 🤔 on the road 😆 🤣

I have enough space Lawrence so I put the parts in a box and every time I am in my office (like I use to call it) I see it.
My wife does not like it when I work in the livingroom (I understand here, cause I need always the complete table) and the kids who go to college need to have room for their homework too. So lucky we have space enought to have a own room. And the best is, when you are building no need to put it away from the table. And my dog loves o be in the office too so I am not alone at all. 😉

@JV if I had an old kit maybe I could combine it. But a boeing 737 in 1:24 is way to big I guess 😂

Yes I think your right that will be a huge model

When I was in Oshkosh one year for an airshow, a contingent of EAA members from Australia, chartered a Qantas747 and flew it to the airshow. It was too big to land at the airport, but they buzzed the field several times before flying to Ohare to land.
