Nice one. 👍

Thanks Ingo 🙂
Next batch of pictures will be better I hope. Maybe I'll even scratchbuild a primitive photobooth.

Looking good, Rene 👍
Didn't quite understand what happened with the drivers hatch?
I'm in😎

Thanks 🙂

Rui, the inner ring below the putty went in too far and it didn't sit even.
The hatch sat flush with thr hull roof, but has to stand proud. I don't know how I managed to screw that up 😄
It was the only place that needed putty really. Generally the kit is quite good fit-wise.

Ok. Thank you for the explanation.

No problem. Fixing it wasn't that hard either, since the hatch wasn't glued yet. Had to be very careful not to sand away detail while smoothing things out.

Laid down the primer tonight. Pics will follow tomorrow😄

Does anybody know just how thorough the Wehrmacht was about repainting captured tanks?
I'm thinking about leaving some recessed areas in 4BO; like the inner surfaces of the wheels, hullsides behind the wheels, lower surface of the hulltub etc.

Would that be remotely accurate?

Thanks! I left those areas green. I might add some darkyellow overspray to simulate sloppy field-paintjob overspray though. My reference doesn't show any details in that regard, I'll upload the photo when I come home.

Hello Rene,
I can't reply to your question, but I've some artwork plates with Beutepanzer and I can see that the Germans treated the captured tanks with great care regarding also it's paint jobs.
If you want I can upload some in my MT albums, although they don't show most of the places you're talking about.

On the top and the visible areas, including underside of the turret and the nooks and crannies there, I did a thorough coat of Dunkelgelb. Essentially it depicts a well-treated vehicle (even the horn got restored compared to my reference 😛 ) with only the underside and the areas below the fenders left in russian green.
I'd appreciate a look at your photographs mate! 🙂

I also have some photos, but I was more thinking about some colour plates.😉

Yep I do very much, good stuff!

I did some small detail painting today and prepared the tracks plus 3 roadwheels.
For that I used a (to me) new color, citadel layer Ironbreaker. I saw someone using it for a Brummbär build and liked the result, so I gave it a try🙂
Nice stuff for drybrushing and small detailwork. I thinned it down to be just a bit thicker than a wash and used that for drybrushing, to get the surfaces as well as the edges. Looks rather bright and shiny in the photo, but it is a bit darker and more translucent in person. After a wash and some weathering it'll be fine I guess.

I've laid down a black-brown pinwash with oils after spraying the whole tank with a very light filter. For the filter I used Revell 381 lightened with a bit of ochre to get a nice tan.
The glossy spots for the decals got way too glossy, having trouble getting them flat again🤔

Now for the weathering. I'm not going for heavily weathered or dirty here. Started with some scuffmarks where ich think the crew would climb up to get in.

Thanks mate!
For a rather simple camouflage pattern it looks quite nice, didn't expect it to turn out that well. 🙂
Fun to do as well. Another one of your builds to look forward to 😛

Lacquer thinner for Tamiya acrylics? Does Mr.Color leveling thinner work?
If so, I would have to spray *very* lightly, I guess a bit too heavy and it would eat the underlying paint.

Some more progress, experimenting took me a while. Pigments can be messy business...
Added an example of my result. The roadwheel on the right had the first step applied and the idler wheel on the left is finished.
The in-between had me a bit terrified, but after clean-up and dusting with a.Mig Sand and European Earth it looks like I wanted it: Some dried up mud here and there with dust from a trip over a length of dry dirt track in summer.

sometimes it is more than enough to just drybrush pigments over a matt sealed surface.... it is much more slighly dusted looking than the usual methods.... anyway...keep on that good work! the left wheel looks much more realistic...
I took an abo! 😄

Thanks Florian!
Left looked the same as right. Some scrubbing and dusting later it looked like it does now 🙂
I'm still trying out things with pigments. Dry, wet, mixed into clear matt and gloss... The stuff is so versatile!
May take a few more tanks to find "my way". But I will get there.

Nice work Rene, I like the fine airbrish art! Pigments are awesome weathering material, but less is enough.

Very nice job on that camo!

Yep. That's why I brushed most of the dark tone off again. I actually like how the idler wheel turned out 👍
Lower hull looks a bit overly smothered and doesn't fit the quite clean upper part. I don't feel like scrubbing it all off again though😄
I'll post a few more pics when I've painted mounted the wheels and tracks. Got to have a go at the jerry cans and tow cables too. By the weekend I should have this one done.
The next build will force me to exercise restraint and subtlety. It's going to be a plane for a change🙂

Added a few pics of the current state. I don't know why some are rotated though, on my PC they look fine 🤔
29 April 2018, 19:57

ignored the rotation..... looks very good so far... (maybe try to delete and add new?) Keep on that good work!

Will do. Tomorrow... 🙂
Some cleaning up and blending yet to come. And the jerrycans look too spanking new.

Thanks for the nice compliments mates! 🙂
