This spitfire was flown by F/O Clem Gerwing who grew up in a town near me. It was destroyed on the ground by an Oscar during a nighttime attack in Burma. He was part of 17 Squadron commanded by Ginger Lacey who recalled the event in the book, Ginger Lacey Fighter Pilot. I am struggling to find the serial number of this particular plane. If anyone has any hints or suggestions on how I might research this it would be appreciated.

Sorry Dave I have no idea what the serial number would be. Your painting and weathering are looking exceptionally good.

i would suggest to post a request for help here in scalemates (not in the album but as a new post), maybe somebody can help or provide some directions, i do not have this kind of information
start the post with something like "does anybody have information about the serial number of....." and mention clearly the Spitfire Mk VIII, somebody may be able to help. i had some good answers about technical issues like that in the past.
