Julian Herrero aka Yuri
Very good job , it's hard to believe is a 1/72 model. As far as I can see the kit builds easyly .... Isn't it?
20 January 2016, 05:32
Ronan

Yes, the kit is easily installed and you did not need putty, it lacks a few details . I prefer myself detail rather than buying resin kits.
20 January 2016, 06:33
Bart Goesaert
superb detailing at a square mm as too speak... but an excellent example that superdetailing isn't about the amount of aftermarket... (but it's easy 😉 )
20 January 2016, 08:13
Julian Herrero aka Yuri
Thanks Roman ... I'll go for it .... I guess it's better than the Zvezda kit ....
20 January 2016, 11:02
John Dunbar
Ronan strikes again! 🙂 Looks awesome!! How will you paint the floors of the wheel bays with the wiring already painted? Or are they removeable?
20 January 2016, 11:06
Harry Eder
I think they are painted John! The wheel bays from the Su-27 are grey 😉
20 January 2016, 12:45
John Dunbar
Oh, now that you say it, I can make out the slight difference between fuselage and wheel bays! Two different greys. 🙂
May bad, thanks for the info! 😉 👍
20 January 2016, 17:44
Christian Ristits
This will become a great model, keep it going ronan!
20 January 2016, 19:57
Ronan
Many thanks 🙂
@Julian : the last Zvezda SU-27 SM is very nice too ( it's the same than Revell SU-27SM) but the old one is not wonderful 🙂
@john : the wheel bays are painted in a darker blue-grey than the airframe , if you know the RLM colours : RLM65 for the wheel bays and RLM76 for the fuselage. But i noticed that you can find different colours in the bays and on the landing gear : sometimes light blue, or blue-grey, or grey and even a colour near than RLM02. The landing gear doors are blue-grey, grey or red...
So if you want to make a particular aircraft you have to look carefully the pictures of the real aircraft 🙂
20 January 2016, 20:32
Tomas Bujalos
Nice one Ronan, thank you for sharing, I do learn a lot from your work in progress photos.
20 January 2016, 21:51
MICHAEL WOODHOUSE
Just awesome and the bar has been raised so far its out of sight for me! As others have said really good for this scale and can only be appreciated by close photography.
20 January 2016, 22:10
Julian Herrero aka Yuri
Thanks Ronan , I'll get one of these too
21 January 2016, 16:17
Aris Grey
Great level of detail and nice high-lighting! What camo you gonna make? How you gonna protect the airbrakes and the wheels? Woulnt be better to paint them later?
22 January 2016, 00:06
Ronan
@Aris : i will paint the splinter camo. The airbrake is not glued in the open position for the moment so i'll put it down and paint over. The wheel bayls will be masqued with tape.
22 January 2016, 07:03
John Dunbar
Hey Ronan, thanks for the update on colours!! 🙂
22 January 2016, 09:40
Pierre-Christian Baudru
GOOD JOB !
22 January 2016, 09:54
Bart Goesaert
metal on the exhausts is fantastic, can you describe a bit how you did this?
22 January 2016, 12:22
Ronan
First i apply the primer for metal paint ( gunze), then i paint the stainless colour on all the engine cowls, then a light dark brown overspray. Now i apply a light black spray on the lines, some brown touches here and there, a blue spray only on some parts. With a small brush, i put black paint in the lines, and after i make black, brown, sand points and scratching. When the model will be finished, i will apply a mat varnish🙂 your turn to play Bart 😄
22 January 2016, 18:12
Ronan
You can used watercolor pencils for final effects too 🙂
22 January 2016, 18:18
Aris Grey
Nice exhaust work Ronan. +1 for the camo selection! It's on my plans too!
22 January 2016, 20:53
Clifford Keesler
Awesome looking exhaust.
23 January 2016, 22:55
Scott Dutton
Looking forward to seeing the cam on it, must be 3 rolls of tape there at least
26 January 2016, 11:32
Ronan

it's true that I do not look at the tape expenditure but only the final result that counts , is not it ?
26 January 2016, 12:25
Bart Goesaert
nice paint and masking job. Thx for the info in regard to the painting of the engines...
26 January 2016, 17:03
Scott Dutton

Martien Lourens
One of my favorite jets. Great paint work. I like the camo schemes.
26 January 2016, 22:14
Aris Grey
Looking good Ronan! For the light blue what color did you use? I like the flag painting on the pilot too 🙂
26 January 2016, 23:22
Ronan
Thank you, for now i'm at the stage of weathering. For the camo, i used H416 light blue, h82 grey and h25 blue.🙂
27 January 2016, 09:04
Roberto Rocat
Lovely progress, I'm following 👍
27 January 2016, 17:21

27 January 2016, 19:06

So this os post-shading!? Awesome!!
27 January 2016, 19:57
Cesar Muniz
Very nice! did the decals came with the model or they are aftermarket
27 January 2016, 20:07
Ronan
Yes , i did post-shading and highlight the centre of panels. The decals are from a Begemot decals sheet for flankers.
28 January 2016, 10:24
Kerry COX
What a stunning display of macro detailing.👍
You must have the patience of a saint Ronan. Exceptional work mate. 🙂 👍
28 January 2016, 10:38
Bart Goesaert
it's alive, alive.... nice progress....

one question though with regards to the postshade. when the camo divides a panel, do you paint the postshade to the edge of the camo on both sides, or do you quit the post-shading a few mm's from the border of the edge of the camouflage. I hope my question is a bit clear...
28 January 2016, 10:54
Ronan
Thank you Kerry. Bart, For the post shading, i used some dark blue paint very diluted. I make a 3 mm large line on all the lines, it's feehand and centered on the panel line. I use the dark blue for all the camo because it's suitable to each colour under so i don't care about changing colour when camo divides a panel 🙂
You can use the oil colour from Gunze too. I hope my comment is understandable 🙂
28 January 2016, 13:00
Bart Goesaert
thx for the info, thought you've made the center of the panels lighter, but you darken the outline... just another way of doing things.
28 January 2016, 13:53
Ronan
In fact, i did both with a light difference beetween colour tones 🙂
28 January 2016, 14:09
Marco Preto
I'm liking your build! I'm liking it a lot!
