One of my favourite planes and your build is making me want to get the 2 unstarted models i have had in the loft for 15 years!

Hi Alistair - do it - despite all my grumbles there is nothing like a Lightning to stir the blood especially if you grew up with them. I remember seeing a big 16 formation flying at an RAF Coltishall Open Day many years ago - just awesome.

I also remember these days at airshows when they would suddenly come from the back of the crowd and pull vertically up on full reheat reverbating through your ribcage. I also was an air cadet visiting RAF Binbrook in 1973.

Me too - was an Air cadet at RAF West Raynham - probably late sixties I think - they were flying Hunters then - another iconic aircraft - the airfield has been shut for a long time now and looking very sorry for its self.

Thanks Augie - no I am not that good - its a Quickboost item - super detail but cockpit walls need shaving to make fit.

Michael, What were the 'metalic' paints you used to create all the different metallic differences I see here in this beautiful build please mate ? 🙂

Hi Kerry - thanks for your interest and comments - Alclad2 Chrome for most areas - Duraluminium for odd panels - Magnesium for exhaust - Bare Metal Foil for Nose Ring and also exhaust surround + odd panel. Alclad Klear Kote Light Sheen which dulled everything down and finally Tamiya X-22 to seal before minimal washes/weathering - hope that helps - Bare Metal Foil brilliant but have to persevere and try several times untill right result achieved . hope that helps

Mike, Thanks for the paint info, and I am yet to work with Alclad as I have used Testors for years but I need to experiment, Thank you. 🙂I did two 1/32 Tamiya Mustangs in BMF mate. But I am so impressed with your results here and I am now looking at getting the BAE bird now, as you have convinced me they come out well. 🙂

Thanks guys - if I did another one it wont be NFM! Kerry - I used Alclad Black Base but couldnt get the high gloss finish I wanted - maybe me but others suggest a different similar coat works as well. It dries almost on contact and is hard to get that wet look without orange peel - need to practice on a scrap model I guess and be brave!

Woody, I have heard that the undercoat is so important and more pressure for the alclad to avoid the dreaded OP effect. Thanks for the heads up mate.
March sounds good Mike. Just ping me when you are ready, as I am ALWAYS ready LOL 🙂 BTW, are you being affected by this cyclone moving down the coast yet ?
Augie, would you have seen and heard these where you lived ?

I still need to get mine. I will get mine this payday. I have the Revell Tornado, I need to get the PE for the cockpit and some resin seats.

Augie. Wasn't she a well dressed girl over the years. !! And I am so impressed.
I was thinking of bare metal foil coverage, but now you have posted those gems, I will have to rethink that effort.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm 🙂

MICHAEL WOODHOUSE Thanks for above and welcome Aron back to the fold! You have some real crackers in your stash to bring to life and I have seen some very good results with hand brushing - thin coats maybe upto 3 or 4 and keep everything clean - thats one thing that has 'spoilt' the hobby - airbrushing but unfortunatly you cant beat it but does mean lots of masking etc etc....
