Nice job per usual William...this is sort of a tough model to find. Is it cyberhobby?

thank you James this is the older dragon kit with a eastern express KV-85 turret, it has a more correct shape for a JS-1 i used a lot of the dragon parts to spruce it up its only problem is the bulge on the commanders side is not correctly shaped

Hehe, another one caught by the Russian flue! Great job, William! 👍
A whitewash is something I've got to try in future.

Thank you,and your correct Frank my last 4 builds have been Russian subjects, i can't get to carried away on the research so i can just concentrate on the build and most of all having fun. Some subjects i get carried away with research and lose sight of the build and having fun. white washes are tough this is an experiment with dunking the model in water and then immediately spraying on the white coat then re-submerging the model in water again for a distressed look, I have tried the hair spray method not very successfully, if any one has a better method please share, whitewashes are a very important painting technique for WWII armor modeling and i need to improve mine

..Well William,
I?ve had satisfactory results with the hairspray method using AK Interactive?s ?Worn Effects? product.
So much so, I?m going to try something else for my next build which will be an SU-122 in white wash.
I?m going old school, the Salt Method!!
Might change my mind, but currently this is the direction I?m leaning towards??.
I appreciate your boldness in this dunking method, pretty off the wall.
Somewhere on the net, I saw some guy used white pastel with very nice results?..
But this SU-122; I don?t want a real worn look. Just some wear here and there, so I think the salt method may be best in this case.
Thank for the post,
WF

hey James thank you for your reply im about to head to the AK website now to see if they have details of your method im very interested to see how it works. I use the salt method for chipping and such never thought about it for a whitewash i look forward to seeing how it looks

..William,
I forgot about this pic.
This is an Su-76 done by some famous modeler, can?t recall his name; Steve Zagoda maybe?
Anyway, he used toothpaste for the wear in the white wash. But I don?t want this much of an effect.
By the looks of it though, you could get pretty much the same result with AK?s Worn Effects; and allot easier.
The most important thing in either using toothpaste or hairspray/AK Interactive product is to lay down an enamel barrier between the base coat and the white wash?.toothpaste, from what I gather, is a type of soap that will attack acrylics?.

thank you everybody for your nice compliments, the white wash came out OK but the method is uncontrollable, I am really leaning toward getting the AK worn effects as you would be able control the results
