2024 Model Build #1 - 1/24 Porsche 959

I was after a quick build, but in the end due to life it took nearly 9 months to finish. This is a very old kit, but still went together quite well. Mating the body to the chassis is slightly off, but not too noticeable. I'm working through the list of interesting Porsches and this had been on my list for a while. It's my 5th Porsche. I chose a custom paint (Vallejo Arctic Blue) as I really like the colour and wanted to see if I could get a decent shine on it. It's a metallic paint which makes it harder. However, I'm incredibly happy with the result. It's easily the best paint job I've done on a car to date.

The kit has used a combination of Vallejo and SMS paints with an Alclad Aqua Gloss clear coat. I don't normally weather cars, but I did a little to the seats to make them a bit more interesting and hide a bit of the overspray between the various colours.

The lessons:
- To get a decent acrylic gloss finish, more than one or two coats of gloss is required (I had 4-5 on this)
- It's a lot quicker to finish if planning ahead with the painting
- Leave the interior mirror until last to ensure the window is perfectly clean (it's very hard to clean with a mirror stuck to it)

The firsts:
- None really

The good:
- The finish on the body, my best yet

The bad:
- I burnt through the paint in some areas when polishing it.
- The windows aren't as clean as they should be

I'm now considering doing a couple of other cars but I also have a tank to finish that I started before this one.
