IPMS Canada include the occasional decal sheet with the quarterly Rand Thoughts magazine. A couple of issues ago, there was decals for a Snowbirds Aerobatic Team support T-33.
I picked the kit up for a good price at HeritageCon XVI.
The decals for the instrument panel basically dissolved on contact with water. I was hoping Yahu or somebody make aftermarket, but I don't see any listed.
Not sure what colour to use for the seatbelts… this was during the early-mid '70s, and thinking either Black or a Dark Green.
I used the last of my Humbrol Metalcote on the gear and wheels. I ran out of Humbrol 32 Dark Grey that I usually use for Tires, but I have some AMMO by Mig Tire and Rubber acrylic that I am going to use.
One of the wingtip tanks had a noticable 'dent' and was a little short-shot. Sorted that out with some Tamiya Filler.

The nosewheel gear bay is not fully enclosed. Hasegawa only provides a Shelf to mount the gear leg. I boxed that in with sheet styrene. I have some detail photos I took of the T-33 at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, so will see 'how much effort' vs. 'how much do you actually see' I will do to dress it up…
Wing-to-fuselage fit isn't too bad, just a bit of filler needed.
First coat with Tamiya Fine White Primer. Need to work on the seems on the fuselage… but I guess thats the whole point of primer.
Added a 'fishing lure' weight so its not a tail-sitter. The nose is moulded a a seperate piece, which is nice so that you can add that after the fuselage is together.
Ordered some Pink Primer. Going to use that as a base for the red on the wingtip tanks.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product of this interesting scheme

The nose cone is slightly larger than the fuselage, so had to do a bit of sanding to get it to conform to the fuselage shape. Managed to knock off the pitot on the bottom of the fuselage, but will wait and finish the seam work before scratching a new one.
Got the pink primer. I like Tamiya Fine Primer, it goes on pretty good. Just sprayed it on the outer side of the wingtip tanks. Need to mask and spray the red.
