Rather pleased with this purchase, bought for under £45!! with built chassis and engine.
Two days in the freezer and I have managed to dismantle 95 % of the chassis and engine this morning in about an hour. Luckily it was not very well glued so the parts were easy to separate with just a few locations pins snapped off.
The blacked version in the photo is the way to go, there is just so much chrome on this kit which I do not like.
So for now I am at the ideas stage - Brazilian style is favourite at the moment with a rigid 6 x4 chassis and recovery slide back bed.
As always I am easily distracted - czechtruckmodel.com web site is calling to me.

Well, you just know that I'm going to jump right in the shotgun seat, for this one!
I ain't missing diddly squat, on this build! She actually goes together, very well.

Czechtruckmodel.com, ST Supply, ebay, and Moluminum (if it's in stock) draw a lot of my attention and money during Semi builds. I'm thinking of claiming them as dependents. Gonna be watching (read; swallowed up whole) this one.

Nice one Jackhammer!
Something else I have been considering is going European style and having side pipes rather than the vertical stacks, just to be different. In theory they would fit under the side panels which I want to extend and incorporate with euro style rear wheel arches.

All of the above, are excellent leads. I also like to peruse the Modeltruckin site, for decals. Auslowe have some cool stuff, as do Kit Form Services. But I must admit, there's other good people out there too. In these modern times of 3D printing, we're spoilt for choice? And although I'm not sure about the Lonestar, I do know that other trucks, also have weed burners, as an alternative to high stacks? Personally, I'm a stack man, but I'm all for diversity, and knowing how you build mate, this is going to be something unique 🙂

Ain't it grand. Mike and Dave on Plastic Model Mojo podcast are repeatedly saying we are living in the. "golden age" of modeling, of which I can't disagree. It's at the point that direct deposit of my paycheck should be to ST Supply. Of course, I now have to get a Lonestar…..😏

It might be golden age of modelling but there is not much new items coming out, it's all re-issues.
I would love to build some new models - Brabus G Wagon, Aston Martin DBX, new DAF XF, VW T7 van

As far as Semi models, you are 100% correct. I think it's probably licensing issues. Could be wrong but, the armor modeling production is prolific, yet trucks and cars take forever to emerge (even in 1/35. Still waiting for a Mack NO in any scale). Yet, with the emergence of 3D printing, we have more resin on the market than ever. There has to be a list several pages long of trucks we want in our stashes but announcements of new tool semis is short to none existent.😭

Amen to that, Jackhammer. And with the rumours around, regarding AITM and Keystone, I fear that we have lost some fantastic creations, of excellent craftsmen. I sure hope that there's a fix to those issues? In plastic though, it's definitely time that the big manufacturers spent some money on new tooling, and gave us something more modern. I understand that it's not cheap, and definitely can't be easy, but with the investment, it will pay for itself, in the future decades. Maybe they think that we plastic junkies, are a dying breed, and it's just a bad investment? My advice to them would be, just look at the booming resin cast products, that are flying off the shelves?
Build it, and they will come.
