Here is a Reggiane Re 2002 Ariete, an Italian Fighter from WWII, this one will be a version from Regia Aeronautica Italiana. The kit was in ways really awesome, and in other ways really bad. The good, I found the fit to be descent on the fuselage and the wings. The first problem i really found is the lack of detail in the cockpit, even though the controls are good, there seem to be some things missing like the parachute is missing. I thought having to cut out panels and add flat parts that have no detail on the upper wings and fuselage were a pretty sloppy and lazy way for Italeri to do this. It is a new tooling I thought, shouldn't the parts be molded like they are supposed to be and not have to be cut out and replaced by parts that dont even fit right or have any detail on them at all. Something didn't seem right wit the cowling either but I cant put my finger on exactly what it was, it definitely didn't fit all that well. The fact that the hump o the fuselage was not correct was also pretty dumb, took quite a bit of work to get the new one on there and looking lie it belonged there, although I have to say Quickboost parts are molded really good it seems and easier to work with than the plastic this model was made out of. The book that came with the model was pretty cool, and the decals where really great I thought, but it was not worth what I pad for it. The thing I dont understand, they can make this great detailed book with a lot of good pictures of the actual aircraft, but then the model is totally wrong. Even though it has its problems, I think it built up pretty nicely, if not totally correct though. If I can find some more Quickboost parts such as the cowling, I will be doing more work to it. A couple of more things I thought about, the first being that one of the exhaust were missing from the kit, luckily Italeri does have an avenue to replace missing parts unlike some of the other companies like Trumpeter. Also, there seems to be a strange gap between the fuselage hump and the cockpit canopy, now I used the Quickboost hump and not sure if that doesn't match up good with the canopy or if maybe there was actually a gap there. I would only recommend this kit if you are willing to buy a lot of AM parts, which there are plenty from Eduard, Quickboost and Ultracast, but its the only way to get a descent build out of it.
