This subject is out of my comfort zone so I think everybody should do it!
Type XXI U-boats, also known as "Elektroboote" [German: "Electric boat"], were a class of German diesel-electric submarines designed during the Second World War. They were the first submarines designed to operate primarily submerged, rather than as surface ships that could submerge as a means to escape detection or launch an attack. The submarines were rushed into production prematurely, and all of those built suffered from significant defects. As a result, only four of the submarines were completed during the war. The design proved influential, however, with other navies adopting features pioneered in the Type XXI following the Second World War.

Andrea MorrisFinally got some bench time on this. This was spent applying most of the very tiny decals. I had to stop after 3hrs as my eyes were sore 🙁 Pics to follow.

Andrea MorrisFurther progress, all the modules have been made up. When dry they can be joined and located against the interior wall, the 2 halves can then also be joined.

Andrea MorrisThe "tube" is all joined up! Some detail work to do now like hatch doors and exhaust pipes.

Andrea MorrisWhilst I am waiting for a new compressor to arrive, I have made further progress, with both halves now joined. When it has dried, I will add the upper (conning tower) section.

Andrea MorrisAll parts are now joined up, filled & sanded. Ready for primer just as soon as my new compressor arrives!
