nice paintjob, but the camo is just a try-out?

Looks good. How is that kit?

Yes, this was just practice. It's ok. For being Revell, there were very few fit issues. I was trying out some of the things I've been reading in FSM mag. It was fun airbrushing!!!

I had a lot of silvering issues with the Revell decals on my Mosquito kit despite a coat of Future and decal setting solutions 🙁

Hello everyone, I have found a way to prevent the "silvering" (Air trapped under the decal after drying) you mentioned.

If you rub or gently polish your future floor polish with a cotton glove that you have sprayed all over your model after painting, it will "flatten" the surface enough so that it prevents air getting trapped under your decals, because, in effect, your making the surface shiny/smooth.

You can 'squeeze' the excess decal glue and trapped air out, with a little pressure on the decal using a cotton tip soaked with decal 'set'.

Also, I have used "Elmers clear school glue" that I will brush over the area I am about to apply the decal to, mixed with a little water, as this will help with the decals "adhesion" to the paint as well.
"Matt Paints " don't have a gloss finish because it is the talcum powder that is added to the paint that creates that "dull" finish.

I hope that helps your next attempt with those decal 'blues'. 🙂

I really like what you have done here with the cammo pattern mate, and can you tell us what you used to mask off for the cammo pattern please mate. Cheers 🙂

Thanks Kerry. I'll try that next time and hope it works. I don't know what Josiah used for masking but I Recently tried a product called Panzerputty. It is used Like Blu Tac but has a completely different texture and is not as sticky. It is also much easier to manipulate on the model, leaves no residue behind and is reusable. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vyDqGvBJOY

I also can only recommend Panzerputty for camo paintjobs! You can create sharp lines oder blurred lines between colours with ease. It´s easy to use and as Jan mentioned leaves nothing on the model behind.

I used a TON of Micro Sol too.... Hey. It was all for the learning. I really enjoyed how it turned out. Even if this isn't the greatest, it beats the pants off the stuff I did as a teenager.

Kerry... Was practicing with Tamiya tape!!! I just roughly followed the pattern on the instructions. It was more for the experience and the airbrushing.

What you have achieved is stunning, and the advice I suggested is just that. I admire all works done by our members here, and all are wonderful to see here.
