Good luck Ed! what colour scheme will you use? The old Airfix/MPC kit is a bit of work but then they all are... The Italeri kit badly needs updating with new parts better still new tooling! would be nice!

Nice to see someone tackling these old kits Ed. Have this one in the stash and have another one stalled at the decalling stage. i had plans to do my USAF version in current grey markings form a Wolfpak Sheet.

I am wondering when this model was actually produced. ? As Glen says, the aftermarket add on's can really help these older kits shine through. 🙂

Hey Kerry, I suspect it was made in the early 80s. Ed, have you made any progress on this one. Is the replacement wheel hub in place?

This boxing is most likely from the early 80's but i think it is the exact same tooling Airfix released in the late 60's early 70's so not much had changed! The Italeri kit has a lot of missing stuff too! That's why you need aftermarket (longer) engine nacells on all the kits from the C-130H onwards plus the extended wheel sponsoon with the air intake and the list goes on! I've got about 10 of Italeri kits to make and a couple of ESCI/AMT gunships to do ALL need some updates of some kind arrrrh........ 🙁

Painting was the main progress made. Trying to get the seams and paint squared away before moving on.

Now you know why airplanes and ships are called "She", as they use a lot of paint and powder.
This ugly bird is certainly looking the dream girl now Ed. 🙂 🙂

Great job on that old kit!
Hey Ed, this info is probably much too late to be of use to you but just to be advised, every one I've ever seen (and built) of this kit will crack along the centre seam between the wings due to the weight of the wings pulling down (and out) on the joint, if you can still get inside to re-inforce the upper seam try doing it, otherwise try supporting the wings at the tips or invert the model to take the strain off...you may get lucky, I and some other builders did not.
