My supplies and kit. Why yes - that is tube glue! I had not heard of liquid plastic cement until I got into the Marine Corps! LOL Starting this now only because I had a Facebook WWII Group Build get sprung onto me by one of my good buddies!!
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/4/4/2/804442-16253-86-720.jpg)
This image is to make the FB Group Build peeps happy. Supposed to finish by the end of the month! ROFL!!
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/2/7/3/805273-16253-17-720.jpg)
Took the parts out of the tub this morning laid them out to dry.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/2/7/4/805274-16253-12-720.jpg)
Started clean-up this evening. Cleaning up the flash a lot better than I did when I was 12 y/o! LOL
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/4/5/2/806452-16253-87-720.jpg)
I think the most time-consuming part of this build is clean-up of the parts! Getting the flash off the parts plus, for me, knocking down some of the baseball sized rivets to golf ball size! LOL
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/3/7/9/808379-16253-89-720.jpg)
Didn't get as much done as I wanted this weekend but once I finish cleaning up the parts and start painting it will go pretty quick!
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/7/4/3/809743-16253-41-720.jpg)
Finally got all the parts cleaned up and most of them primed.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/4/7/1/810471-16253-15-720.jpg)
Boy, sure has been a VERY long time since I used enamels! LOL The smell sure did bring back a lot of memories, including one where my Mom expressed her displeasure of me using the paints in the house!
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/2/6/9/811269-16253-31-720.jpg)
I made more of a mess & splattering of paint all over than I did actually giving the crew some proper color on their flight gear! It will do - I just need to get the frames on the clear plastic turrets, canopy & lower nose glass masked and done so I can button this sucker up tomorrow.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/5/6/7/812567-16253-13-720.jpg)
Between my nerves any more and the steady stream of callers inquiring about my car's extended warranty, I should have known better than to trust myself to hand paint the turret frames on this! But they are done and I will be able to close up the fuselage this by this evening. Will make sure to mask off the Cockpit Canopy & Under Nose Glass.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/6/5/3/814653-16253-66-720.jpg)
About an hour's worth of masking & prep for less than 5 minutes of actually painting! Fuselage has already been done. I never would have done this before 25 y/o!! LOL
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/1/9/3/820193-16253-56-720.jpg)
Primary paints on.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/1/9/4/820194-16253-31-720.jpg)
Primary paints on from the rear quarter.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/1/9/7/820197-16253-15-720.jpg)
Prep for gloss coat.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/1/9/8/820198-16253-74-720.jpg)
Considering the wings & fuselage had some golfball-sized rivets the decals worked like a champ with some help from 'Mr. Mark Softener'!!
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/1/9/9/820199-16253-92-720.jpg)
Getting the final flat coats on.

I think Valleo acrylic paint is totally ok if you have an airbrush btw, worth considering I would argue.

I have quite a few Vallejo sets. The point of this build is to ONLY use what I would have had access to when I was a teenager! 😉

Tip for Vallejo primer btw: I have to sift the paint. This really prevents clogging in my experience. I found bits of paint when I started sifting my paint in a fine tea sift thingy. 🙂

Album info
Recreate the box scale B-24 that I had built for my Dad and given to him. He had been a belly gunner in B-17's & Liberators in the SouthWest Pacific in WWII. At the time, I didn't use liquid glue or acrylics. I need to rustle up some old school enamels to do this baby!
