Looks a great diorama on the moove ! 👍
If the barrel is full, don't forget to lower the suspension on the right!😉

Or maybe laying it on the rear sit… with the hole of the barrel through the open door… 🙂

Good point with the suspension! I'm not sure about the overall set up. Probably a Kübel wouldn't stand the mass of a full barrel anyway? I think max payload was sth about 455kg whereas a barrel might have been a ton or so?
Anyway I'll definetly keep that in mind when putting stuff in the Kübel. 🙂

I agree with you. I have searched awhile yesterday, having seen somewhere a Kubel optimized for transporting 3 barrels… I will send you the pic if i find it one day ! 😄

That version, a prototype, is featured as one of the many vehicles in the MMIR book on Kubelwagens.

A litre of water weighs 1 kg, so a 45 gallon (170 litre) drum, if full of water, would weigh 170 kg, plus it's own weight.

Ugh, I wasn't aware that a barrel only holds 45 gallons! 😮 Thx for the info!

I shall not drown the model in hairspray.

That would be 45 Imperial gallons I guess? German fuel drums were 200 litres. Anyway looks good. Not common practice to have them in a kubel but if you are on the move in a hurry, anything goes! Anyway it could only be half full! Looks good so far!

Thanks Julian! Today I'll give the camo a second try. Do you happen to know which colour german fuel drums were painted in??

What I do with those old drums sans lettering is paint them in bright civilian colours and pass them off as commercial fuel drums...adds a little colour to the usual drab military dios😉
