Thats a good project to follow! You will build right out of the box?

Yes out of the box, I did using squadron putty made the percussion bags on the main guns. So other then that and the swastika on thebow and stern it will be box stock. I will have updated pictures periodically.

Well after a looooonnnggg break, lots of research... and built models later! I started on the Bismarck project again. I am making progress. I am now using Tamiya acrylics, insteadof Model Master Enamels. Slow but sure hope y'all enjoy the pics I will keep them updated this time!

Great job Steven, I have the old TAMIYA kit to build, one day I'll start it. Yours looks fantastic,I'll be watching.

Steven, good move to acrylics. I have used only TAMIYA and GUNZE for about 30 years now, best thing I ever did was to change to acrylics, especially if you airbrush and far easier to clean up.

I agree acrylics are far better in many ways. I gave enamels up because my son got into my paints, and made a real big mess. That very day I put all my enamels away and went out and bought all Tamiya acrylics. Which by the way was cheaper than the ModelMaster enamels. Thanks for whatching.

I still prefer Humbrol enamels for brush painting parts, I find that acrylic dries too quickly and I can't get the same coverage. Maybe I'm doing something wrong!

Barry, I know what you mean. I find acrylics seem to be "oily" if thats the right word when painting with the brush. I find you need to apply arcylics "wet" and in one stroke, dont go back over your stroke otherwise you tear the paint I find. I'm not much for brush painting , I do very little and I need lots of lessons to improve application. When I did paint with enamels , as you say it was easier. All the best.

I use 70% rubbing alcohol to thin the paints and found that by doing this they stick far better then just right out of the bottle. I use 90% rubbing alcohol for cleanging my airbrush and paint brushes. I started this sequence because of trying to paint right from the jar and yes if you use to many brush strokes the paint starts to come off. It works for me anyway. Also you must lay down a primer coat I use flat black spray paint or flat white spray paint.

Thanks Christopher I am so glad y'all are enjoying the build. This is only the second battleship I have ever built. U.S.S North Carolina was the first, which I gave to my uncle before he passed away. He was in the navy stationed on a battleship in WWII.
