I painted a black ring on the first stage, as shown in the instructions

Here you can see the same ring (a little bit smaller) on the first stage.

I don't mind the black ring. Even if the other rings are unreal. I built it as Airfix thought it should be.

First gloss coat - Revell Aqua Color with airbrush. Well thinned it works quite good.

Those parts took 1/3 of a can of the Revell Aqua Color Gloss coat. The parts are very big and I wonder how big a real rocket must be.

The first stage is very very larg, even as kit in this scale. The service module is so tiny on the other hand.

The command module is too small, but otherwise the white heat shild above would not fit. This is due to the plastic thickness in this scale.

The black ring you are referring to was painted on the test vehicles, SA-500, which both Revell and Airfix used as reference for their respective kits. If you're not accurately modelling a specific Saturn V, don't worry about it. As to your other curiosity, the real Saturn V was 363 feet (110.6 meters) tall and weighed an average of 6.3 million pounds (2.8 million kilograms) at takeoff, depending on the mission.

Thank you, Mike. That clarified a few things. As I do not want to build a specific Rocket, I agree and don't mind the painting. There are some things I learned during building, so I would have to build a second one, that woukd be more accurate. 😉
