This is how I am trying to do pre shading and post shading all in one go...
I do some fine line with the final color color (Gunze RLM74 in this case) on a white primer coat (Gunze 1500) following panel, rivets and other lines on the surface, leaving some white showing through-

Then I fill in with some mist of the same color, highly diluted, light repeated passes.

Final result, not very obvious in the photo but it is visible, even if subtle.
