Acclamator Assault Ship

Album image #1
There is some misallignment of the details on the lower hull...

Album image #2
.... I removed it...

Album image #3
... and glued it with better alignment

Album image #4
the cast was very thin in the marked areas so that I had to reinforce it

Album image #5
The bow of the upper hull has to be build new because of bad cast

Album image #8
Because I intend to lighten the bridge I cut it with a razor saw in order to hollow it

Album image #9
Album image #10
The hollowed bridge ready for the installation of two small LED´s.

Album image #11
The pylon on which the bridge has to be installed

Album image #12
I did not like the deep trench and closed it.

Album image #13
The callenge was how to illuminate the engine in a way that illumination is not only a blue dot of the LED. The solution is to use an optical lens, which needs an adapter ring for installation

Album image #14
The lens installed inside the trust tube of the engine.

Album image #15
Illumination check photografed with flash light

Album image #16
Illumination check photgrafed without flash light

Album image #17
The kit misses the rocket and torpedo launchers which I added.

Album image #18
Bores for engine illumination LED´s

Album image #19
Chanels for engine illumination wires

Album image #20
Cut outs in the rear wall for illumination

Album image #21
LED installation space for rear wall illumination

Album image #22
Light dstribution box for side wall illumination. Light will be transmitted into the box by optical fibre with 1,5 mm diameter

Album image #23
Installe light distribution box

Album image #24
pre painted greeblies for the side and rear walls

Album image #25
painted lower hull

Album image #26
Painted upper hull. Markings have been masked and airbrushed.

Album image #27
View into the top half of the hull. It includes the electronics and fibres to illuminate the command tower, torpedo launchers and turbo laser ( flicker effect) and some grebles at the side walls and stern

Album image #28
View into the lower part of the hull. It includes the electronics to light the engines and the cable for power supply

Album image #29
Connecting upper and lower hull

Interesting, where do you even find these kits?

There is a distributor for Europe in the UK. Its name is Tirydium Models.

The panel fading looks amazing, really nice Christian 👍

Agreed, the panels look really good. Makes me want to repaint my Venator.

Thanks Garreth and Markus. I only preshaded the most prominent panellines with a medium gray color. For the majority of the panels I used the primer ( mr.Surfacer 1200) as prehading color. Each panel is seperately airbrushed begining at the center of the panels with a very light gray. For the bright panels I added one drop white and masked the panels before airbrushing them. For the colorized panes I added some olive drab or brown into the light grey base color and applied the high dilluted color in different layers with a brush.

So the fibres are just so you can use fewer LEDs? Also are those premade chips for effects or some type of nano arduino? Not that advanced with electronics yet. I cheat where I can so this is very interesting for me to see how it's done. 🙂

Using fiber optics to cut down on the number of LEDs is brilliant!

@ Markus: Youre right, the fibres limit the number of LED´s and the small fibres enable to create small dots of illumination like at the turbo lasers . The small IC´s are responsible for flickering and the others at the large bord provide constant current of 20 mA like an electronic pre resitor. Iam not sure if they are really needed but after some try and error they helped to avoid damaged LED´s. I tried to keep it simple because I am also not that familiar with electronics. Power source is a battery pack with 3x1,5V=4,5V batteries and everything is connectet parallel so that each part gets the same voltage.

the small fibres were obvious to me, just unsure about the big ones, but that's not a bad idea at all. You can trick so much with electronics. I recently got some LED remotes off ebay for like 2€ each and while I wasn't sure they'd work at all, it turns out they're not only capable of dimming the LEDs, but also come with a bunch of premade effects that you can even adjust the speed of. I was very impressed with them.
