I'm looking for nice modelers who would have used this ABT decal to build a model with this decoration. I have produced a monograph of more than 300 pages on ABT decals and I would like to be able to illustrate it (with the agreement of the person concerned) with photos of these models. My nickname on Scalemates is verik.

Wow, was ABT that prolific of a decal maker back when?! I have a few that have been gifted to me by one modeler or another over the years & have plans to use a few of them in the next few years. I don't have this set & as near as I can figure this is a wholly fictitious paint scheme, isn't it?

Indeed, some say that this decoration is imaginary. However, the ABT notice mentions its source which I was able to find and a profile view is provided by this source. I'm not expert enough to decide who is right and who is wrong...

Oh, Wow! Looking more closely I see that it does indeed provide a reference to a publication in 1972. Did that publication indicate it's source for information as well? Either way I think I would like to build my own Me-262A-1a in these markings! If nothing else it would be a neat conversational piece to put next to some of his other aircraft, especially with the iconic mouse! 😉

I sent a message to the gentleman selling it here on scalemates in the hopes that he still has it & can send it to the US for a modest amount. Modeler's Heaven seems to want to charge $69.50 USD to ship the same decal sheet to the United States....

Hello, the source that I found refers to another document (IPMS USA) that I did not look for because I think it must be difficult to find it. If you are interested, I can send you a photo on this subject. To do this, contact me at my address philcrepey@gmail.com, because here I cannot attach a photo.
This decal is very difficult to find, it is undoubtedly one of the last produced by ABT around June 1973. If you can't buy it on Scalemates, I might be able to help you get the other one: the Modeler's Heaven site is located in Belgium, near France where I live, and I think there is a solution to significantly reduce shipping costs (69.50 US$ it's crazy but it includes all the Belgium-USA export formalities. This does not exist between Belgium and France, and then I could help you send the decal from France to the USA like simple mail from individual to individual).
Sincerely
Ph Crepey

Thank you so very much, verik! The decal set arrived safe & sound this past Saturday. It appears that the carrier film has a little yellowing so I'll have to sun bleach them for a while before I attempt to use them. (I've done it before with VERY old ESCI decals.) As you know I still have not yet acquired my airbrush/compressor & that will take me a little time both to acquire as well as get used to it since I want to do this project justice. I believe I will use my Pro-Modeler kit with a PART PE set & ResKit wheels added to it.

Additionally I'd like to obtain the Academy kit so that I may build White 3 which is also attributed to Galland during his time with JV44. I thought to use the Mulberry detail set with my Pro-Modeler kit but there was so much overlap between the PE set & the resin set that I decided against to go with the PE because it covered more areas of interest for details than the resin set did. I do have an order that I eventually want to make from the gentleman that runs Mulberry but unless there's a shape problem in the nose of the Revell/Pro-Modeler kit I'm unaware of I see no reason to still obtain that set.
