Im well unto the build i gotta say, this kit is god damn trash
Yes, its impressive in size and has very nice details all around, but not a single major construction went without tons of sanding and filling work.
The parts fits nicely, but every step has very noticeable and wide seam lines to fix, just horrible

Finally got mine, they are the US release I guess, fewer parts. There is no stand or engines and of course the box art is different.

Wrong scale. 1/72 is standart scale. No one need this useless huge 1/48.

i love 1/48 but have only built 2 planes from this scale but mostly 1/72 to make my collection scale but 1/48 nice one

Anyone built it yet? I am very worry of throwing away that much money at revl kit after their F18 screwup

I'm almost finished. Would have finished before now, but one of the intake cones was a weird shape and needed a replacement.
My honest opinion? It's better than standard Revell fare. But - their design team (who have made clear progress) is being let down by their factory and plastic quality, in my opinion. Some things not picked up on in most reviews:
- The panel lining can be VERY shallow in places and any sanding will result in the need to re-scribe, and in a couple of instances the lines just randomly stop...
- There are some bad sink marks I've come across in a few of the parts
- If you look carefully you will start to see little dents, marks and deformities in the plastic. At least mine had around half a dozen.
There are other things about, but... it is a Blackbird and it is better than any other option. The fit is decent, the only filling I had to do was the engines to the fuselage. You do get a decent stand for it. The decals are fine. And there aren't that many pieces, so it's a quick build with a big end product.
Would I buy another Revell kit on the back of the experience? Probably not.
That's my two cents!

Four mates marked this kit as being in their stash. A kit that still has not been available! NOW I am curious...

happens all the time with kits that are not yet released... there is at least one guy who has it in his stash.

Maybe big thumps? Happens to me sometimes. But when I see it I change it and put it to the wishlist.

YES! It's about time someone (besides Italeri/Testors) came out with a 1/48 SR! The Italeri/Testors SR is okay (I've built two of them so far), but the molds ARE 40 years old!

I'm really excited about it, but you're right, now may be the time to part with some of it. This is always a risk as a model collector I guess. A new tool bringing down the value of a once sought after kit. This has happened quite a bit to me recently. Trumpeter with their 1/48 Whirlwind really dropped the value of my Classic Airframes kits , Academy's 1/48 Huckbein took my AMTech kits way down, Modelcollects 1/72 B2 hurt my Testors stash, and now this. Please know I'm complaining at all here, I love new releases, just an interesting aspect of modeling.

Holy Sh***! What a great outlook to 2021 😉

I'm definitely looking forward to this one too, And I agree hopefully it goes much better than the 1/32 F/A-18E, and on time!

New tool 1:48 scale SR-71? Way to go, Revell! But please, please don't botch this up like the 1:32 scale F-18...
