Can someone please make a new Twin Otter kit? The Matchbox/Revell nightmare needs to be buried.

Got mine today -Looks like a BT-67.
Initial assessment , not too bad!
So, what I see - fuselage is stretched. Clear parts are rough,(pits and not clear) - but do install from the outside of the fuselage, so that's a plus. Sprue gates are in some not too good locations, (leading edges, sides of wing/belly center section, a few others will need some careful separation. Detail looks mediocre, but a good start. Instrument panel is flat. Yokes and rudder pedals are awful thick. You do get weighted or unweighted tires, a nice touch. Minimal flash, but it is there. Sink marks are few but large inside the fuselage. Full interior although simple. The tail cone on mine was separated from the spue, it looks to be tough to clean up. Small short part, 4 radii, and leading to a point.
Panel lines - well they certainly are THERE. Far too heavy, have not compared them for accuracy with a proper line drawing of the aircraft.
Decals look great, particularly the Australian and Canadian flags. The prop logos are bit out of register. Carrier film looks to be just the right amount.
Now the big question, which scheme? So many lovely options for this airframe! The 3 in the kit are all good. One BT with is based near me in Smithfield NC, purportedly for "paratroop training" terribly boring scheme on that one, all white with two lime green? or gold? cheat lines - rumor has it it's a government plane used by our three letter agencies. I am leaning toward the "White Desert " scheme of Theia Aviation.
A replacement windscreen is a must, it's just too thick and pitted. Shame there.

Hello ! Thank you for this analysis.
I haven't got mine yet, hesitating with the new reference to come and its 49 new parts (????). Those kits are an impressive improvement of Amodel's Lisunov Li-2, when looking at the sprues. Reading you, i understand It kept some, if not most, of the flaws of its ancester : i only hope that there is less work than what i had to do on the Lisunov and presently on the Tabby ! Adjustment of big parts, i.e. fuselage's halves, extrados, intrados, engine panels, were less than horrible, with major lack of material, and mix of cyano and talc was widely used ! Of course, evevy clear part have to be heavily sanded and polished, and as you noticed gluing them from outside on the fuselage will help a lot as there was some big work to bring them to the fuselage surface ! Mobile surfaces are separated, that is great, it should always be the case for the empennage of a DC-2/3/C-47 and all derivatives.
Replacement windscreen ? I wished having found such item, Your description is correct, but there is nothing to see inside cockpit but pilots's seats. And curtains of course if your specific aircraft have some. Unless you put a LED inside ?...
I believe it will be a great model after having fixed the usual issues...

Pig of a kit - horrific fit , uneven wing roots, toy like window holes, bad fit everywhere - buy at your own peril - No Maiden fan should have to endure this wreck of a jet. Mine has been stuck on fuselage fit and corrections for over a year. Belly is WEAK, terrible fit, nose shape is wrong, plenty of real build logs out there. This kit needs to be put down faster than a kamikaze.
RUN.

Anyone else hate Hasegawa decals with the fury of a thousand Chihuahuas? Holy crap they are the worst - almost binned a nearly built IDF P-51. I've stripped it to bare plastic out of frustration, may shred all Hasegawa decals I possess. GRRRRR

To honor Mr Tamiya's passing, I ordered an A6M, an F4F, a J2M and an F2A. Two old molds, and two newer molds. I remember my first Tamiya - the old M3A2 halftrack, I remember paying a princely sum for it way back in 1975. It was AMAZING after a steady flow of Aurora, Lindberg, and Hawk kits till then.

They both run pretty smooth but a bit too fast - I'll have to add a resistor

I've got a plan for this kit which includes a Lemmy figure, Murder One amp and a couple of bombed out buildings.
