My goal is to represent a late Panther G from Kampfgruppe Peiper (Vehicle 301 of the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstrandarte SS Adolf Hitler) during the Battle of the Bulge. I plan for the model to represent a tank that has been in battle and therefore has some external damage such as bent or missing fenders, side panels, and tools. I may attempt to replicate one or two non-penetrating hits.
Camo will be based on late-war German tri-color in the Ambush style. Weathering will consist of general grime associated with being driven on muddy roads. Chipping and flash rust will be used on and around damaged parts of the vehicle. External stowage will be limited to camo netting, a bucket, and possibly a couple of tree mats (Logs wired together similar to a mat, to be used for traction in mud/snow)

Started off working on the Photo Etch Fenders, since it will be much easier to remove the molded fenders now, than after the hull is mated to the tub. The Aber photo etch bent easily; however, the instructions aren't great on a couple of the parts, another drawing/sketch from Aber would help. I have to figure out if I need to remove this remanent of the fender. It isn't needed to ensure the tub is properly placed.
Finished removing the kit fenders and filled in the missing sponson's. Then I began applying putty to the seams and sanding everything smooth. While I waited for the putty to dry, I finished soldering up the PE for the fenders.
Been busy with work and life, and haven't had much time on the bench. I scraped out the molded-in weld beads and replaced with green stuff weld beads. I flame-scored the exposed edges of the body plates and added a mild texture to the hull. Also detailed the jack that came with the kit and spent several hours building a PE bracket to hold the jack. Chipping away, the main body is just about finished, PE added to the rear deck, turret is underway. Had to add some detail to the mantlet including the missing mold seam. Drilled out the mantlet to accept the RB Barrel. First wooden aftermarket barrel I've seen, it's great! Textured the turret sides, sanded down my mold seam, and textured the turret.
