Got tires sanded, engine is mostly done and I did a quick dry fit and everything is looking like it should. More later.

Thanks guys! Tamiya takes a lot of the frustration out of their F1 line. Always enjoyable to build. Made a bit more progress today. Decals on tires and wheels. Instrument panel detailed. I will get some more photos up soon

It may have been Ferrari that made it easy for Tamiya. I have been trying to figure out how to eliminate the seams that come with Tamiya front suspension "boxes" on both their FW11 and B188. But so far, so good with this one.

Bossy, you could be right about Ferrari making things easy. I must confess that I'm not a very good modeler. I love building kits. I love adding details here and there and sometimes I just love building them out of the box. But seams in suspension "boxes". I confess to not giving them a second look. I love it when others go the extra mile and really make things look like the real thing. However, I find myself content if my projects resemble what they're supposed to on the shelf. And I enjoy when they are well engineered to fit together without the need for pulling all my hair out. 😂 That's been mostly the case for Tamiya's F1 line for me.

And you know, you're probably better off just building to build, keeping it fun. I try to keep it simple as well but certain things I cannot ignore. I say, if you're having fun: more power to you. 🙂

Absolutely. That's what it's all about after all. I enjoy all your work. It's lovely. And well worth the extra time you put in.

Tires and wheels decaled up. Suspension attached to main tub. Progressing along.

Wheels bolted on and decals started. I'll not be home tomorrow to finish it up most likely, but should be buttoned up very soon.

F189 finished up! I greatly enjoyed this kit even though I didn't put air of effort into it. (Look at that engine cover) I honestly don't think I've built an open wheel kit that the engine cover has fit quite so beautifully before. Lovely kit. May try to pick up the high induction version sometime down the line and add some extra details. One an never have too many Ferraris after all. Especially ones with 12 cylinders. They always look good on the shelf.

Beautiful. I just got this kit and was looking for some inspiration... So very nice. Wow. I can almost hear the whine of the engine.

Thank you! It's a gorgeous kit Greg. I'd build it again without question.

I started this in 1990 and it's still in the box (31 of those years spent in the loft). You may have pushed me into picking it up again.

I took your advice and picked it up again. Decals look a bit "iffy" after 30 years in the loft so they may need replacing and I am having difficulty airbrushing and varnishing the red bits, but the rest of the build is now just about done.

That's awesome Simon! My decals were iffy too. I put them in a sunny window for a couple days to whiten them up a hair and the. I brushed some decal film over them just to be safe. I was unsure if they would've worked or not. I've also found that red can be a difficult color. I wasn't even super thrilled with the finish on this one but figured it's a race car, so they're never perfect

Probably just do a pretty simple OOB on this one. Tamiya’s 1/20 F1 kits just build up so nicely
