Another older tool, this one the Hasegawa A6M5c Zero. A bit basic, but there is very little flash. First thing done was added Vallejo Model Air Aotake blue to inside of plane and wheel well (what there is of them). 🙂

Added primer to aircraft before shading using Vallejo Model Air black (for panel lines) and white (to hopefully get some contrast on the main colours).
Also painted some of the other bits to go on later. Propellor (on instructions mahogany,) I mixed 3 drops Vallejo Model Air IJN Medium Brown, 1 black and 1 red to come up with the colour as shown. The propellor tip is white, the engine has been painted with gun metal grey with some spots of black added. The drop tank was painted IJN medium grey and the bombs black. Finally, the pilot. 🙂

I admit I do have a lot of Vallejo Model Air paint but recently have used Hataka paints on the Hurricane IIc and the Wellington. I wish I was sponsored by Vallejo though, I'd ask them for more paints to try out.... 🙂

The main thing to do is look at the references for the colours. If they're Humbrol for instance, you can look up the colour reference on the internet. I also look on the internet at actual photos of the planes and drawings etc. looking at the colour schemes. Hope that helps Charlie. 🙂

This A6M5c Type 52 represents that flown by Japanese Fighter pilot WO Takeo Tanimizu (32 kills) although he was only officially credited with 18 actual kills.
An honourable pilot, WO Tanimizu once flew in low and threw his life preserver to U.S. Marine pilot Captain Harvey Carter of Glendale, California, who had just been shot down and was swimming in the ocean.
The propellor has been added as has the undercarriage, cockpit and fuel tank. A little weathering from chipping of the paint and from the exhausts has been done and I now declare this complete. 🙂

Nice finals, Guy. As always...accompanied with a great back-story too.
