Revell Star Wars Millennium Falcon

Album image #1
Started by removing this piece from the sprue. But then decided to actually paint everything on the sprue, as I think it will make my life easier. Painted the first colour on everything that requires it - Revell 371 Light Grey Silk Matt. So far out of all the paint brands Ive used - this paint goes on very nicely, comparable to Citadel paints. I've so far found Tamiya paints very awkward to brush paint with by comparison.

Painting the clear plastic pieces was very awkward. It does give the option to use included decals here instead, but I decided against that as I worry it would be even more difficult than painting. Hard to tell from the photograph perhaps, but these parts are tiny

Painted the interior piece as well by mistake. I'll just paint it black as it suggests when I get around to that colour

Not the best photos, these parts are tiny. The next colour has been painted using Tamiya XF-19 Sky Grey as I didn't have the exact Revell colour. But this was close. I really struggle to brush paint with Tamiya paints. Not sure where I'm going wrong - Revell and Citadel paints are a joy to brush paint by comparison

I copied the pattern in the instructions and it's starting to look more complete already. Some of the areas it suggested to paint didn't have defined edges on the model, which was extra challenging. You can probably see those areas here pretty easily

Finished painting this now. As you can see from the photos, some areas were difficult to paint accurately, and so there are some mistakes. This thing is tiny, in my defense!

I could call this complete now, and I might. When I come to matt coating and weathering my Churchill, I'll decide whether to matt coat and weather this too. We'll see. I enjoyed this model, it's tiny and cheap and basic, but it went together pretty well, and was fun. It was a nice change to make something quick and easy for a change

I matt clear-coated the model and decided to do some very basic weathering. First time using MIG enamel washes, so wanted to use it first on something smaller and simpler. Happy with the results, although it is perhaps a little overly grimy looking now. Now this model is completely finished

Thank you! Yeah, I love the military vehicles, but I love variety even more, so I plan doing a lot of non military stuff, including more sci-fi builds

Nice progress. You can activate the advanced options in the album, then you can also rotate the images

Album info

First Revell model. First non-military model. First Star Wars model. Since I've spent some time with Tamiya, I plan on now exploring some other brands, starting with Revell. I've got four models from them lined up - starting with this one, which I received as a gift. It's a very small basic model, and I've decided to brush paint it - partly due to the small size and partly for practice in that area.
