I primed with Stynylrez black, sprayed AK Xtreme Metal Aluminum over it, did a coat of their Gauzy finish intermediate for decals, and then finished with some Winsor and Newton Matte thinned heavily with lacquer thinner. The stripes and anti-glare are Tamiya acrylic. I was making it up as I went as I've never been very happy with any bare metal finish that I've gotten, but this one turned out okay. The "weathering" is just dabs of grey and brown oil paint, blotted on the gloss and matte coats according to what I thought looked good. Thanks for your comment!

Thank you very much! I don't mean to be fake modest, but just like any build there are things that bother me that nobody else will probably ever notice. The canopy on this one is a sore spot, it won't sit right and in some photos you can see right between it and the rail...there's always something! ????

Lol, maybe? Chosen more or less at random many years ago, perhaps it's a little bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I would hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the undercarriage legs are back to front. The oleo links should be facing the rear. I find that landing gear is my Achilles heel. I always stuff them up one way or another.

😂 Lovely, I gave this one to one of my daughter's 9-year-old friends so I suspect the landing gear probably have a completely different orientation by now!

A nice, fun, quick and easy build. I would never say that the Mustang is my favorite plane but the 1/48 Tamiya kits are so nice, I could never get tired of building them.
