Models I'm really proud of!
Second nicest model I've ever built, IMO. It won 2nd place in 1:48 Prop Category at the 2016 IMPS Southeast Regionals--I was stunned!
1:48 Tamiya J2M3 Raiden - Finished in 6 Days! All Tamiya Acrylics (first time), first use of Future clear coat prior to decal application - I added a few scratch cockpit details and masking tape seatbelts - I Used kit decals
1:32 Tamiya F-4J Phantom II (Commission Build) I did for parts + $400 commission for a colleague for his father's 70th birthday - His father was a Jet Mechanic on them during Vietnam. He loved it!!
Resin Intake covers. Satin Clear used on the nose radome to mimick the rubberized rain-erosion paint coating
Overall, I feel this is the nicest model I've ever built! It's a pity I can't admire it every day. (By request) Both canopies were NOT glued in place so the cockpit details can be better viewed
12+ hours of work in the cockpit alone - Seatbelts made from self-adhesive lead foil tape, Oxygen hoses made from Bass Guitar string!
Metalizer finishes on the rear-end. Weathering dine with airbrush post-shading and only certain (commonly removed) panels outlined with a pencil then smudged to show dirt and wear
1:48 Revell MQ-9 Reaper Drone. Scratch-built exhaust pipes, center intake vane, wheel chocks, pitot / vane assemblies, sensor wires, brake lines, etc. - AFV Club Iridescent film used on the sensors
It won First place at the 2019 Pensacola Blue Angel Model Fest!
1:48 Gavia Fokker D.II - Wings drilled with #90 bit and rigged with stretchable EZ line - Added scratch-built cockpit details - It won 2nd place (1:48 Rigged) at the 2016 IPMS Southeast Reginals!
1:48 Accurate Miniatures IL2-M3 Sturmovik
LOTS of time spent on this one - Assembly was a pain!
Aerial Wire made from stretchable EZ Line. Brass tubing used for the wing-mounted cannon barrels
1:48 Revell A-10 I did for Parts + $250 commission for a colleague
Much more subtle weathering than my first A-10 from 2013, more realistic IMO
Painted gauges, dry-brushed accents and Resin ACES II Seat
Quickboost Resin ACES II Ejection Seat & Eduard RBF Tags, I added hydraulic lines to the wheel wells and brake lines to the MLG - I was very pleased with the results--so was he!
Southern Air Craftsmen (Local Club) Group Build - Six 1:48 Revell F-16s mounted in the "Burst" Formation, on 3/8" diameter aluminum aircraft hydraulic tubing attached to a section of F-16 wing trailing edge
The display won First place at the U.S.S. Alabama Model Fest and Pensacola Blue Angel Model Fest in 2015!
Originally displayed with the rest (now separate) my contribution: an Italeri 1:48 F-16D - I LOVE the look of the two-seaters!
1:48 Accurate Miniatures B-25B Doolittle Raider originally done for my club's group entry (WWII Navy Carrier-operated aircraft) for the 2016 IPMS Southeast Reginals - First place for group builds, of course!
It is now displayed as its own pre-Doolittle Raid preparations diorama - Assorted Monogram figures with hand-painted rank insignias and jacket patches - Rope lashings made from twisted copper speaker wire
CMK Resin WWII Wooden Carrier Deck Display base with PE Tie downs - Resin toolbox on top of scratch-built work table
Removing the guns to lighten the load! Top Turret tarp cover made by stretching and (gently) heating a ziploc bag over the model with a heat gun - Strap is made from self-adhesive lead foil tape
1:72 Dragon Do-335 - AirWaves PE detail set added, along with scratch-built engine bay detail and wiring. I opened the cowlings to show off the front engine
1:24 '67 VW Beetle I did for my wife (then GF). It's her dream Beetle.
The first car model Id done in almost 30 years
I hand-painted the (Batman) "Robin" symbols on the headrests to match her name, her tattoo and her obsession for comics
