Curtiss Tomahawk IIb.

Album image #1
Photoetch applied, I think the gun barrels are a tad over. But whatever!

Album image #2
Album image #3
Cockpit done, slight step on the wing .roots fettled.

Album image #4
Exhausts drilled out, prop and spinner painted and stressed (Hairspray method)

Album image #5
Album image #6
Added some brake pipes, ready for primer.

Album image #7
Album image #8
Primed and silvered for hairspray and chipping.

Album image #9
Under carriage done, ready for the wheels to be offered up and cut the imitation pipe to length.

Album image #10
first attempt at free handing the Camo' some overspray, but a happy outcome in it helped the faded look I was going for. 3G Paint still a problem in doing tight lines. even though the ratio was 70/30 in favour of the thinner and spraying at 9-10 bar through a .2.

So. Not happy with the original finish, I went back in with the azure, then mixed it with mid stone for effect and then white for highlights thinned as usual, pressure the same as before. But this time ran it through a .3 no issues, I may have found my sweet spot.

Album image #13
Dusted it off with heavily thinned Azure Blue to try and bring it all together.

Glossed up and decals applied. Considering they were Cartograf took some getting down. Could not resist dummy fitting the prop and spinner. You cannot have a shark mouth without a red prop.

Album image #18
Tailplanes on, headrest in and VMS Satin coat applied. Could not resist mocking it up. Looking at it, I should of got a pilot and posed it in flight.

Album image #20
Just the rigging to apply, prop to be secured and some more weathering. Final stretch approaching.

Album image #21
Progress update. Had to use the kit pitot as I lost the photo etch one and I did not drill it out either ??

Thanks Doubtingmango. First attempt at improving the landing gear. Went into it with a bit of trepidation as I used fuse wire and it took some manipulating. In future I am going to try and get hold of some lead wire as it's softer.

Looking great Mark. I've always liked the lines of the early model P-40, especially in RAF desert colors. 👍

Thank you James C and John. I have to agree John and with the Shark mouth it looks even more aggressive. AFV P-40 in the future methinks. Thank you for the likes Airjuneau and everyone else. πŸ‘πŸ₯ΈπŸ€˜πŸ₯ΈπŸ€Ÿ
