Trumpeter's 1:700 Nimitz CVN-68 Supercarrier

NOTE:

0) I think with this kit, it is a mistake to try sit there and glue the bottom part to the top part of the hull, and then try finish the seams, the seams will probably crack before or after you finish, and so, one should glue on the inner lower deck (also making sure the lower deck if a good fit, not bulging the hull plastic) before finishing the seams on the outside between the top and bottom hull parts.

1) Top part and bottom part for the hull is difficult to glue together because glue don't easily fill the seamline. Kit parts by default, obscure most of the seams on the inside of the hull. A consequence of this is that heavy handling, or badly fitted lower-deck-part, will easily make a glued hull crack along the seam, ruining any flush seam requiring more work and might not easily look as well as it did before cracking open.

2) Kit comes with a simple ocean waterline diorama, a big plate with a cavity in it to place the ship model. Waves aren't shaped realistically with this plate of plastic, perhaps possible to reshape in ways?

3) Maybe Tamiya has some 1:700 jets. If not, any panel lines of the tiny jet models might as well be filled in. Wings sanded thinner, wheels replaced with bits of styrene rod to maybe look more realistic.

4) I have already drilled out a lot of holes, before adding photo etch along the hull, but this is so tedious that I won't drill out every hole along the hull.

5) The one elevator just behind the tower imo isn't good for lowering I think, because the hull is more curved and I wasn't able to make the elevator line up neatly with both the upper deck and the lower deck.

Btw I think I will be using Vallejo Model Color 70.907 'Pale Gray Blue' for the main hull color (vertical surfaces), supposed to mimick "Haze Gray". I have Vallejo air 71.046 'Pale Blue Grey', but that second one is more bluish, but similar name (weird).

For the carrier decks, I don't have the 'German Gray', but it looks like I can mix 'Panzer Dk. Grey' and 'Medium Gunship Gray' to get this greenish dark deck color.

I just remembered, I also bought photo etch for the launch ramps FStar FS700162 "USN Aircraft Flame Baffle" & FStar FS700139 "Post WWII USN Radar Set.
