There is an Idea boxing of this kit and three have recently been listed on ebay in Australia.
Bidding has gone absolutely crazy on them.
With one sold for $140 plus $12.20 post and another currently at $143 plus $15 post with two days to go.
The third I purchased for $300 because it was two kits in one box.
I want it for my collection but also to take a picture of and upload to the database.
I also discovered a rebox of the Hobbycraft version that's not in the database
So I've just purchased one of them on ebay from the States for a heap of money too

Second kit listed sold today for $259 plus $15 post.
So I did alright buying two for $300 post included.
I'll be able to sell one reducing what I paid

So my ebay listing of the one kit minus box ended today at $178.50 post included.
In a truth is stranger than fiction scenario the guy I purchased the two kits off of purchased the kit I listed. Apparently he had seller's remorse.
So I'm relatively happy

I used a toothbrush and a bar of soap with warm water.
Just take your time.
It'll all come off with patience and persistence.
The Parts Box kit is totally different.
I'd recommend getting a kit from The Parts Box if you're going to build.
The from seats of the Cavalier Model Productions kit are more accurate but the rest of the interior is of an XC when the Interceptor is an XB.
The Parts Box kit also has a dash mounted blue light and an excellent gear shift lever with blower switch.
Plus the tachometer with red light.
Front headlights
I only bought the Cavalier Model Productions kit for a collector's item.
I also purchased the Monsters in Motion kit and it is awful

Rod -
Thanks for the tips
I'm trying to get an aoshima kit but they're absurdly expensive. Apparently there's another Mad Max film on the way. Hopefully we'll get a re-pop to go with it!
Thanks for the tips

Yeah, they're quite expensive those Aoshima kits but to me they should be cheaper because the second movie car is ugly.
I think a lot of the ebay sellers of the Aoshima kits are very greedy.
If you check out the available listings and then what has actually sold. There's a large difference between the price of the ones sold and the ones still available.
Nobody wants to pay what the greedy ones are asking. One is over $800 dollars. What idiot is going to pay that

I've been trying to clean my cavalier kit. I think its been sitting in its own melted tires for too long. Whatever the tires were made from, its attacking the resin in the other parts. Some parts have turned soft. The steering wheel is soft like cooked spaghetti. One of the wheels has swelled up.
If you have one of these, drag it out and clean it up before it turns to mush!

That's no good Rod.
I have two of these kits and one had soft parts.
I just thought it was badly made resin, didn't even think it could be a chemical reaction between the resin and the melted tyres but you're probably right.

I will watch for sure!
A friend has this kit in his huge stash and offered it to me after the finished Amati kit. I refused since we have no space for two 1:10 stage coaches.

Yes bughunter, I'm smelling wood glue a lot ATM.
It's bigger than I thought it would be when I bought it, so I can understand that.
If I could afford it I'd buy the Amati one for the luggage and the two Winchester rifles.
Unfortunately this kit doesn't have any luggage.
I actually owned eight Winchester lever action rifles when I had a firearms licence

Hmm, the kit is no more listed on the Amati page. As ar as I remember there was beside the complete kit also the plan set alone and the PE set alone available. I showed the kit content here: modellboard.net/index.php?topic=39229.0
May be you can ask Amati for the PE fret 671 (contain Winchester and luggage parts)? The mini lasered wood sheet for the Winchester was 2544. See link above for pictures of both. The luggage was mainly done form simple MDF parts and wood strips, here the kit is not really needed.

So step 12 was unbelievably difficult.
I tried soaking the plywood first to bend it but that didn't work.
Due to the outside grains running opposite to the way the plywood was to be bent the piece just wouldn't stay bent.
As soon as the clamps were released the bonds of the wood glue would break.
I ended up using Superglue and then Araldite as well to make sure it held.
This took many days.
Then because the plywood bent the wrong way I tried glueing cross bracing to prevent this.
The cross bracing wasn't up to the job so I had to sand the plywood until I could get the desired result.
Thankfully the Walnut veneer has covered the mess and no one but us will ever know just how awful this piece is

Excellent work so far mate. I've been working with wood for about four decades and I bet I'd have struggled with that. Well done for sticking with it.

They used the same Box for:
1959 Corvette
1959 Imperial
1959 Impala
1959 Bonneville
1959 Ford Galaxy
1959 Thunderbird
...only had a different stamp on the side of the box with the Model inside.
Correct in my view is "3 in 1 Customizing kit" - no brand, no make from the model inside.
The same was made in:
-> 1960 "3 in 1 Customizing Kit" (Mercury, Corvette, Buick, Chevrolet, T-Bird or Galaxy)
-> 1961 "3 in 1 Convertible Customizing Kit"
-> 1961 "Compact Car Customizing Kit" (Comet, Falcon, Ranchero, Corvair, Vaillant, Tempest)
Problem is, that they used the same box. On one side, there was shown the different cars that were available, on another side in a white field a stamp what kit was inside.

Ordered and paid for.
Best thing about this kit is that there's a figure.
Doesn't look anything like Mel Gibson, so I'll have to try and modify the face to change that but it'll give me something to copy for the slot car I'm going to build

This is a rebox of the original from the nineties but there's no classification for the actual situation.
Les made a new mold in 2016 due to the old one wearing out.
So not only is the box new but the actual contents are of a much better quality being an updated mold

When I get it I'll add a video to my channel Tinman's scale models.
I already have a video of the Cavalier Model Productions kit on there.
The build will be on my other channel Aussie slot car because I'm building a slot car with this kit.
I didn't like their slot car kit because it doesn't have an interior.
I'll have to modify the interior tub to allow for all the slot car bits underneath.
I have seen this kerbside kit built back when Adelaide Hills Slot Raceway was still open.
I'm a slot car fanatic.
I'm into 1/32 but The Parts Box don't sell an Interceptor slot car and I'm hoping to mske a little money by selling them myself.
The Parts Box are primarily for slot car racers with the static kits being a side line
I was going to use the Cavalier Model Productions kit but it has an XC interior instead of the correct XB one.
This might not sound like a big deal but the two are vastly different

Kit arrived today.
It's definitely better than the Cavalier Model Productions kit but there's a few improvements required.
It needs a set of B F Goodrich Radial T/A's
Front seats are awful.
Bonnet locking pins are incorrectly located.
Exhaust tips are wrong for a Mad Max I Interceptor.
On the plus side it has no air bubbles in any of the components.
A clear blue light lense for the dash mounted Police light and a clear red one for the tacho.
A sawn off Shotgun
The Honeycomb trim on the rear panel, not very distinct but it's there
Clear headlight and front indicator lenses
Once my order of Blue stuff arrives from Green Stuff World I'll be able to make copies of the Cavalier Model Productions kit front seats and I'll have to make some Trumpet exhaust tips
I found somewhere to buy scale B F Goodrich Radial T/A's too.
