HMS Exeter (68) 1:350

Wood Hunter deck applied. Sections removed to correctly show metal deck, offcuts used to add wood deck to B Turret superstructure and part of upper bridge.  

Offcuts from Wood Hunter deck used for upper bridge, although I will need to lift this to apply phot etch raised platform (from Eduard set) 

B Turret deck isn’t perfect but the offcuts work quite nicely. A little scoring will add the plank effect. 

With the hull drying after spraying, major components added to deck 

Masts scratch built from brass rod and Master yards and tapered masts sets, since the original was too flexible to rig in any way.

Funnel stays all rigged  

E322 “Enemy in sight, bearing 322” 

Second motor launch added (MicroMaster). Various photos were inconclusive so I went for a 25’ Fast Motor Boat.

The Walrus looks as though it could never clear the funnel guys, but on a plan, I found reference to temporary guys that were rigged when flying was taking place. It would imply the funnel guys would be stowed and temporary guys fitted that allowed clearance for the launching. 

Semaphores added to end of the signal platform  

30’ Gig added (MicroMaster). I couldn’t find any evidence of the colour of the Captain’s gig, so went for a dark grey. It could have been any colour other than blue or Green and I considered red to match Exeter’s badge, but it seemed a bit much.
